RMW Comfort Craftsman arrived last night. My 5 year old go-to chelseas just got replaced!

Wow that is cheap. You should pull an IS and slip them on SF for a 100% profit.

Bought some flannel shirts at Jcrew today since they were extra 40% off.
 
In the last week, I've gotten pants from Banana Republic and Gap. And two flannel shirts from BR.

No shame at all. I sold off my Epaulet rivet chinos because I just wasn't wearing them. Loved them too much to wear them if that makes sense. Picked up some similarly colored "Aiden" chinos from BR (maroon and grey) and already can tell I'll wear them far more often.

Had this text convo w/ JimmyRustler about how I've swung back from SF-isms. Just not worth it in so many aspects. Especially when the fit is comparable (if not better) for my body shape. Just can't justify $150 chinos when BR has stuff on sale for $25.

And the flannels - a bit of a splurge at $12 a piece after discounts, but nice and roomy - perfect for winter layering.

One line that will never be drawn back though is shoes. The internet has enlightened me so much on shooz.
 
Not atrocious. I was examining a lot of labels b/c last year they had non-natural fiber blends in just about everything - even the "Pure Merino Wool" sweaters.

This year, a lot of it is back to 100% wool and cotton.

Cotton chinos are cotton chinos. Should work out fine. The flannels are soft and hefty. Also got some navy cords that are pretty nice - wore those out today.
 
Will hit it up tomorrow. I like the epaulet chinos I bought of SF, but i share your sentiment. Simple cotton chinos are just cotton chinos.

I bought two pairs of BB equivalent of AE park avenues last year after Christmas. Very good prices on sale.

Yes... the novelty and groupthink wore off. (Thanks stupid squatz).

I still have a lot of EP wool pieces and trousers though. I can't really argue that BR surpasses the quality of EP, but for basic things I'm going to kick around in? No contest. $30 chinos at BR will last just as long as $150 EP ones. No way that EP is 5x more durable or better by any metric.
 
I am torn as well. I can still justify the expensiveness for some SZ pieces but as far as ST&D is concerned, I really can't tell the difference between the J. crew shirts I have and the EG/WWM/Epaulet ones to justify more than 100 dollar difference.

For most of my EP/WvG shirts, I note a huge difference, but that is mainly due to the cut and fit. Those brands are superior, IMO. Fabric selection on shirting too. A lot of BR or GAP shirts feel cheap by comparison.

But again, that quality can't just infinitely move up with price. I think I'm settling into my own price/value metric
 
Quality/fit/construction wise, I agree with you.

I will say that J.Crew>gap shirts. Don't have any BR things currently

Older age is changing my priorities. Also living in the midwest, Jcrew is considered upscale. No one else really notices or cares. People however do notice shoes for some odd reason. I
 
Went to BR the other day. Almost pulled trigger on some woo flannell pants. But after trying them on, the fit just wasn't right and the flannel didn't feel substantial for winter.

Didn't purchase, but was sold today be Suit Supply. Have a B&M in the Venetian. Got to try all their different jackets and get sized up for when I graduate and get a big boy job. Suits seem really good for the price.

A lot hate them but I think it's just a very good item for the price. I really like how their jackets fit me, problem is the trousers but I'm hoping they bring their MTM program to Mexico some can add some suits!
 
Got a pair of Carmina Hatch Grain Jumper boots today off the B/S. Huge steal of a deal - a bit wide at the midfoot, but good fit overall.

you have my blessing to tell anyone that will listen that they are Russian reindeer leather from the bottom of the friggin ocean.
Obviously, they are not and are made of leather meant for footwear, and not bookbinding leather revived using questionable alchemy, but the effect is pretty much the same.

yep.

while I don't mind a plain cap toe on a dress boot. it bothers me on a casual boot. ... and Carmina, when you are going to copy a design, why in the world are you going to copy the negative aspects in form of this massive heel block. jeeezus. afaik, a proper jumper boot would always be on a lug commando sole, not? rant over.
 
It's on commando. I think this photo is from skoaktieboglet or whatever the crap it's name is. Mine are an EP makeup, that was just the best photo online
