WDYBT: What Did You Buy Today

Still going through a bit of workwear high. Harris tweed. Mark McNairy. I know the white stitching can be a bit distracting.

White stuff looks tacky - I'd be getting out the navy TEXTA or SHARPIE and fixing that up.
 
What's with the button spacing and that left chest pocket?
Hey, why the white thread on pockets and buttonholes but nowhere else??
 
I think he is a bit under appreciated. He can be over drastic in terms of nuisances, but the quality and construction are superb if the pieces are subdued especially at the price point compared to Engineered Garments in which he also designs for.
 
I've seen some nice subdued pieces. Where is it made. Nice fabrics.

I have a pair of his boots made in the UK (Sanders) and they are solid and hard wearing.
 
All of my McNairy clothes are made in the Garment district in NYC, or at least that's what the tag says. I read somewhere they are made by the same people who produce EG and WWM.

I've heard good things about his shoes. There are some on sale currently. At sub-150 price range, they can't be beat.

Your jacket is USA made. $264 on his site. Not a bad price (1/2 off)
 
I got mine for under $150. Harris tweed, real horn buttons, can't complain. A good layering piece.

Speaking of recent purchases. Kopped a pair of Made in Maine LL Bean duck boots as well this week. The weather here has been nasty lately. I don't want to get salt damage on my shoes again.
 
Great price for what you get. His boots aren't very subdued this season. There is the Churchill and the Troopers that don't have camo or natural welting

I am contemplating both. The boots add a splash color to otherwise boring khakis/chinos/jeans/cords. The loafers are also versatile.

I think I am going to step away from the ninja game for while.

The Chukkas are casual but in a good way. I'm not a loafer guy so I'll reserve comment other than the colour is nice
 
Many don't like loafers? Care to explain your reason. I just never understood the dislike. I really like the chocolate color suede on those.

I don't know how fast the rubber soles will wear down on those chukkas, I seem to wear down my soles/heels relatively fast.

Details on the maker of Made in England McNairys. You mentioned something about Sander being the maker.

I just fund loafers to be fey. The chocolate suede is nice.

Sanders & Sanders, Northhampton, Goodyear welted. Sort of mid-tier UK maker
 
Thanks for the info. Never heard of the shoe maker before. Only English shoes I have are Grenson for Paul Stuart and C&J.

So Sanders roughly = Loake in terms of quality/construction?
 
I'd say in the Loake range maybe a bit above. Not readily available in the US as compared to some of the others. But beside McNairy they used to make for RL Polo and have done Thom Browne too.

Since I only have boots I can't compare shoes to the other makers.indon't think there is any fear of them surpassing C&J and the other upper tiers as competitors for stylish more formal shoes

But they are well made and very comfortable. Have beaten them in snow and bad weather and the storm welt keeps moisture out. No cracks, tears (other than the fabric pull tearing on one).

I think they do some funky colured brogues - kind of Trickeresque or maybe Trickers copied them who knows - and they do a line of bucks
 
Didn't know they did shoes for Thom Browne. I thought Trickers or CJ made Thom Browne shoes.

Good to hear they are solid. Might pull the trigger on those loaders. March is definitely going to be my no kop month.

I am digging some Tricker's x Junya shoes right now. Not digging the prices though.

The pocket opens on the upper half of the side! Just enough to fit your left index and middle finger in when you need extra leverage while sucker punching the ihipster (not Pauly, he's too buff to take on). Seriously if you threw some coins in that pocket would love to see you retrieve them.

The side near center is some sort of piggy bank as you point out, but the armpit side has some slot for holding a test tube or pen or cigar?

Everything but actual clown shoes are ghey tacky shoes made for degenerative fagmen. Being that Sartodi's a real life clown I feel that's really all you can expect.

Loafers look good for $100. I'm not a loafer man so I can't give you more than that.
 
I used to be a huge of bit loafers, but Gucci has turned me off because of their tacky bamboo bits.

I like your though. Suede loafers are a good way to elevate a fit.

Hamilton, Ontario isn't exactly a thrift gold mine. Most of Canada sucks. Go to Austin, Texas, yo.
 
I'd say they are 9/10 and they are 9.5 but fit one size large. I'm probably not going to part ways unless I could make a substantial profit from these.
 
No more Rick for a long time. More McNairy. Received the coat today. The fit is perfect as well as the cut. Found a brand that fits my odd shape well off the rack.
