The black shoes with the gray pants and that coloured coat make for an interesting look. I often choose black shoes with outfits like that too...gives it a unique edge that brown shoes couldn't touch.

even though non-black shoes are often SEX FOR THE EYES i like the subdued elegance of well-polished black shooz!

I see many wearing brown shoes, but l don't see many pulling them off. I am not sure brown shoes are sex for the eyes, but l do see them as a relaxed look when done well, and sometimes they can be adventurous when done exceptionally well, and sometimes they can be AMAZING when done exceptionally well.

I do love the elegance and sharp look of really great black shoos.

There are a LOT of nubs doing brown shoos these days who aren't up to the job of going about these things well. See...these blokes read that brown adds fashion and a twist to their outfits, BUT they make mistakes because they don't look at the overall outfit like a true expert. Instead, these lightweights think that a brown pair of shoes can make them look sophisticated, but rarely is it so simple, and they show themselves up by showing how out of their element they really are. These fashion magazines should say "rock the brown shoos, BUT you need to be extra good at what you are doing when co-ordinating an outfit - brown shoos immediately show who knows what he's doing and who doesn't because it sorts the men from the boys". That's what magazines should say so more men know their place and leave these things to men who know what they are doing.

See...in my city l see mostly boys. Why? Because they have no clue how to wear brown shoos, AND they wear crummy shoos. The men in my city mistakingly think that brown changes everything, but it never does until you master the art of colour combining and brown shoos.

See...men generally are cavemen, and many aren't too artistic, so understanding colour co-ordination is a challenge to many. I just say to them "sit in your office, do your work and only wear black my boy...don't try to become something you are not".

City suits and brown shoes can be tricky, especially with grays.

we both know that not only brown or black shoes exist
think of the green and blue beauties you posted!
if one masters the art of combining these shoes you are a REAL SHOOMAN!!!

Don't forget BURGUNDY, the best of all!! Very advanced, so only for real men. One must first master wearing brown shoes before one is ready for the glory that burgundy brings.

what would you wear with brown chalk stripe flannel?

nice trick question
i would dream of a brown cs flannel db suit
but not get it!
so my thoughts end right here,

though
maybe
maybe maybe
dark brown shoes, always treated with black shoo polisZ

Actually, green is much easier to work than the blue shoes. Green can go with dark gray trousers and a contrasting sportscoat or with navy blue trousers quite easily, but bloo shoos are very iffy with nearly all colours except light clothes or gray, but sometimes l have said `what the heck' and worn them with navy blue pants to stir people up abit. Now, these green brogues by Paul Smith would go great with nice jeans or *dare l say* go good with the right shade of brown cords....I know they are oxfords, but certain guys can still do it. Personally l do lots of oxfords with non suits because l am a shooman.

Fxh is a true man and is different to most of the boys who make mistakes in their clothes. Why? Because he knows how to fix a tractor, and that is major man points.

Nice experiment fxh, but things aren't flowing like they could be imo. Seems like the tie colour and pattern doesn't quite blend with the suit so the eyes are treated to splendor, and the brown shoes with the conservative suit with red sox doesn't anchor the outfit down properly.
shooey - thanks.
Its my "gangster party" suit - I only wear it 2 or 3 times a year - not for business. I had the trousers narrowed a bit more than usual for that reason. Its a Cantarelli - its dark blue with bright white stripes. I wanted to wear the tab collar shirt for a change and the tie isn't as dramatic as it looks in the photos. The socks are actually a dark subdued purple and nearly match the suit. The shoes are dark dark brown almost black Zegna.

Oh yes, it would be very intimidating to many men. I like it for that reason. Makes one appreciate what clothes can do.

Clothes are good to dress to one's own satisfaction, but clothes can also be good to send out signals when one feels the need. For eg, with your suit it would say `I am confident and l am going to completely own it and be a true man'....sometimes things need to roll like that. Why? Because it is part of being a man. See, sometimes we dress quietly and keep low key, but other times WE WANNA OWN THE PLACE!!!
