What Are You Wearing Today?

Had on old jeans and a t-shirt with Trickers suede double soled monks.

why?

Busy doing man's work. Had the mower out, used the axe to chop stuff, used the chainsaw all day, and celebrated being a man. A real fairdunkum aussie male Sunday. No paying someone to do it like a weenie, we are old school men that do it all ourselves.

And a hat?

Yup, it’s an old one when they were still making them in the US
I've got one - with a bit more red I think. Not snap buttons.

How to do you wear it - as an outerwear overshirt or an underneath layer?

I find it hangs a bit funny if undone as a shacket type thing - due to wool getting a crease....

I wear it as a shirt

Shocking, I know. Never as an overshirt. The Pendleton western shirts are cut slim so they don’t do well at that. Their board shirts are cut boxier so I find they work better and they are cut to be worn not tucked in
My old Beach Boys shirt was a slim cut (really just a little tapered at the waist) and made in the US. I wore it as an untucked shirt, but it could work unbuttoned. The current version looks pretty boxy

I size down in the board shirt

Picked up the denim shirt by chance the other day at at H&M - good surprise @ only $20

I’d probably wear a pale pink or pale blue shirt but I like it otherwise. Of course, you know me and plaid!

Next time I‘ll try it - I have a pale pink shirt and a few blues that might work.

Dropbear Dropbear are you dyeing your hair blond or just going grey and it appears yellow in the light?

I forgot where you live but is it really cold enough for a pea coat there already? Is that the Daniel Craig Billy Reid one?

Shooey might approve of something like this:

However, these are merely goodyear-welted and thus only a first step, the next step up would be something in a similar style, but handwelted, ideally by someone in the Austro-Hungarian tradition.
I've been wearing a pair of these this winter. I walk 25 minutes to work and these are warm, solid, comfortable, and have good grip. Ever so slight AH upturned toe. I wear these on ploughed trails. They are a well built boot.

Hope the heist goes well and you stay one step ahead of Jonny Law
It went well. Thanks. I think I'll start posting daily like kitonbrioni did. I only have so much time left on this earth in a manner of speaking. That will give you ample opportunity for quips in lieu of ever having to contribute anything meaningful to DW. Cheers.

Grand Potentate Grand Potentate is desirous of seeing me in goofy winter kit in various stages of freezing my ass off. First real cold day this winter. -25C (-13F) with a -33C (-27F) windchill. Only snowed last week. Nothing special. Minimal ice up/frost. Kit worked well for the weather. Proper Inuit slight chill to prevent sweating. Chose synthetic insulation over down because of high humidity. Impressed with the warmth of the boots.

Yessssssss!

This is the premium content slop the hogs sign up for.

It was supposed to warm up today but stayed cold. -20C (-4F) with -30C (-22F) windchill with light snow. Wind is worse than yesterday, making it more miserable with blowing and drifting snow.

Indoor clothes:

Icebreaker merino wool base layer top (260gsm) and bottoms (190gsm).
RLPL naval shoulder button wool pullover
Orslow 107 black denim
TNF Thermoball Traction bootie - cue the hate

Outdoor kit:

Dachstein watch cap. Still the warmest watch cap I have worn. Double-layer. Boiled/felted wool is also far more wind-resistant than regular wool. It beats cashmere, alpaca, merino/possum......

Yak wool gaiter - probably the best bang for buck winter accessory I've purchased. Creates a perfect microclimate around the face. Never use my hood.

German army surplus Goretex shell mitts with fleece lining. 3-ply Dachstein liner mitts. I use 4-ply liners when it gets colder.

Feathered Friends Eos midlayer jacket. 900 fill power down. It is the previous generation, which is a better made jacket, and it has an extra ounce of down - 5 ounces (142 g) vs 4.

Nanga waterproof/breathable insulated shell (150g/5.3 oz of 760 fill power). Aurora-Tex is their proprietary form of WPB fabric. At these temps it doesn't breathe so well but it is all about wind-resistance. Plus, I've always favoured shells with light down insulation + down midlayer versus Michelin-level down fill parkas.

Adidas wool felt above the ankle boots + Primaloft insulation (Climaheat). Modern valenki.
