I’d probably be the last person to know, but I’d guess not a lot. It was a solid blue collar Hispanic family inner-city neighborhood that is now being over-run with twenty something hipster professionals who want to live close to downtown and the light rail system.

Drugs and gang violence (and presumably hookers) are mostly on the south and north side.

I have a work colleague who died suddenly over a year ago. This morning a got a notification in the app that he just joined Telegram.

That’s Truth Social and maybe Discord.

Telegram is one of the more secure apps for 1x1 or group chatting, and is popular with drug cartels. But these days it’s more popular as a Twitter alternative. I follow a few music and news-related feeds focused on the Ukraine war. It’s also used a lot by Russians right now, since they have been booted by most other platforms. It’s still kinda fringey with some dark corners, but there’s also a lot of normie content on there.
 
I joined Telegram for Persians. It is least blocked for Iranians compared to WhatsApp, Tiktok and Instagram. Or Facebook if any senior citizens are still using that.

I came from a farm - the rule is always "Feed Your animals Before You feed Yourself" - they cant
 
I get to organise the first meal at an indoor restaurant with my brother's family since March 2020 + our parents + our aunt. Food allergies, table preferences, and free parking arrangements for the driver.
 
I spent an hour at HSBC headquarters today. It's a brand new building across the street from where I live.

We are now stuck waiting for an activation code by e-mail or sms. Confirmed my identity by driver's licence 3x. Signature comparison 3x. Social insurance 1x. Job work title 1x. Address 4x. Prior address 1x.

The only good thing is they have some really young and nice looking girls working the retail section.
 
^^^HSBC is a terrible bank. I have banked with them for over two decades now and they are the worst in ways too many to enumerate. Everything is slow...

Why do I still bank with them? Well, they were useful when I lived in China and was chortling back and forth. Also, I use two other banks BUT I should really get to closing my account with them.

I still have this investment account but I closed my chequing awhile ago. It was handy when I worked in London and had an account across the pond. My parents were the ones who introduced me to it because it was easy for them to shuttle money from one current/former British territory to another.

Here the target demographic is 55 plus especially amongst ex pats. I did a sales presentation to them once and they were struggling to figure out how to break out of that.
 
I was at a dinner followed by a speaker last night. The speaker was part of a diplomatic mission to the Soviet Union in the 1970s. It is interesting how people asking questions and the former diplomat himself would freely interchange the word Soviet and Russian.
 
Going to brunch with my aunt and I have a tickle in my throat. I hope it isn’t coronavirus.
 
I went and grabbed bombolini for my brother's kid and bumped into the aunt of an industry friend in this busy financial district cafe. This industry will never leave me...or maybe I'm not making a big enough effort to leave it.
 
I have been cooking with speck all day and no matter how much cologne I use I feel like I smell like pork.
 
I'm invited to a birthday party this Saturday. Last year I showed up to his wedding with an ethnically appropriate date. Somehow that stuck in his wife's brain so they expect me to bring a date. The girl is long gone by now but they said there will be couples activities. They're also around ~30 or the wife is late 20s.

I'm also slightly peeved because it's Easter weekend and usually I do more family oriented things.

Oh she was. Mid to late 20s. Late 20s this year. All of us got coronavirus but people who came from London like her had super resistance.

It was a Punjabi wedding. I was told out of the few hundred people invited there would be exactly one white guy and me. The ceremony and music would all be in Punjabi. She's Pakistani. She said she didn't understand the language or lyrics but the tunes were the same and she got me through the dance part I was supposed to participate in for the groom's side.

There was a reason why I was supposed to be at that twice delayed wedding but I don't particularly know why I need to be at the birthday as I've never been to any of his birthdays.

What happens when someone tells you they lost out on a bid for real estate? Everything happens for reason? Better luck next time? I'm sure something will turn up?

A man pushing his baby opposite of me today made a remark that I looked sharp.

6am 45 minute cardio session.
1 hour hitting balls at the driving range.
7km round trip walk to the port lands.

Time to crush some bottles of wine.
 
I read and hear every day how people use AI to find answers or write documents for them.

I was at an alumni event yesterday and after the speaker finished there was a Q&A period where someone said he didn't know what to ask so he asked ChatGPT to think of a question for him to ask after the presentation.
 
Went down to the gym this morning to see a security guard pull up a woman who must have passed out or been wasted from a night of partying. Good looking girl. Still had her makeup on. Very nice floral dress with a knee length raincoat. Not sure I could deal with the throw up/morning breath.
