What TV Shows Are You Watching?

Tokyo Vive had a perfect wrap-up. I’m hard pressed to think of another series that ended so well.

I'm 30 years late but I started Babylon 5 recently. I'm midway through season 2 and despite some issues (a bit of overacting and very 1990s CGI) I get why it had such a loyal following.

Fallout is on Prime is next on my watch list. I’m coming into it with no knowledge of the game, which may help or hurt.

Pass. The only thing saving this mess is the pretty girl from Sweetbitter.
Kind of think you need to have some into to the game universe. I've never played but I might give it a shot just for Walton Goggins.

You seen Shogun yet?

I’m not really sure what they were going for or if the game is this campy, but it’s just a derivative mess.

Yes! I’m enjoying that one, though I do wish they would pick up the pace a little.

From what I understand its pretty campy and supposed to be funny/silly at times.

Don't wish too hard. Its a 10 episode mini-series and that's it.

I thought there was a lot more to the book. But I think I read it at the start of high school (mostly just remember the author spent a lot of time describing penises).

A worthwhile use of time at the very least.

No, definitely only 10 episodes.

I watched the first ep of this last night. Good budget, great cast and an interesting espionage plot that may steer clear of the bigger cliches.

Watched all of Ripley. Very impressed.
Also watched all of After The Party. Just as impressive as Ripley. I don't know how those not. In Oz or NZ can see it.

Baby Reindeer is definitely worth binging. I nearly skipped this because of the hype, but glad I didn’t.

Finished The Veil last night. Man, this one really fell off a cliff in the last few episodes. If you like a lot of over-acting and a convoluted plot that comes to a completely unsatisfying resolution then this one might be for you. Otherwise, I'd skip it unless you're really bored.

It started well, but I’m already seeing the drop off

So desperate for something to watch I'm doing a rewatch of Star Trek Deep Space 9. Maybe I should rewatch Battlestar Galactica instead?

Somehow I missed that they did a remake of The Ipcress files in 2022. Watching the first ep now and it is terrific- closer to the book, while still leaning on the style of the film. Now I need to figure out how to access the other 7 eps.

A bit the bullet and got a 7 day free trial of Sundance, so I can set the rest of the Ipcress Files.

Has anyone seen The Bureau? Five seasons of French espionage that looks interesting - also on Sundance.

Link to both? I’ve never heard of either but I’m all in on French shows. Just watched Furies on Netflix. Kept me entertained.

Just finished The Ipress Files (2022). One of the best espionage productions of the last few decades (up there with the LeCarre material, Slow Horses, etc). But also, one of the most stylish things I’ve seen in ages, with a wonderful homage to the Michael Caine original of 1965 film. 10/10IMG_8918.jpegIMG_8915.jpegIMG_8916.jpegIMG_8919.jpegIMG_8920.jpegIMG_8921.jpegIMG_8922.jpegIMG_8923.jpeg

The Bureau is good. Full of gritty tradecraft/procedural details and some interesting French and colonial settings. It moves a little slowly, but the plot is rich with characters, storylines and complexity.

If my trial subscription was going to last long enough to make it through 5 seasons I’d definitely keep going with this one. 8/10

Sadly unable to find this on torrent.

Starting The Bureau now.

Did you ever watch Liaison? It’s a crime they didn’t renew it for another season!
I don’t think so. Doesn’t ring a bell.

Watched The Tourist on Netflix. Definitely skip this one.
