What TV Shows Are You Watching?

Allison Janney giving Keri Russell a dress down in The Diplomat was great writing. Witty.

But the 4D chess she is playing in world politics would make Dropbear’s civil service body roll in his grave.

Working my way through The Pasta Queen on Amazon. Not really sure why she's so popular....maybe in English speaking circles. There are more interesting Italian cooking videos on YouTube from Max Mariola and Stefano Barbato. Of course they don't look like her and maybe that's the point.

7.5/10. It’s all a bit over the top, but it’s a light and fun little series

I don't watch any TV most days at all, but I try to find something Ms fxh and myself can watch without it being something we both have to complain about all the time we're watching. We both enjoyed The Diplomat

I had thought of getting Disney for a month only - to watch Beatles in USA - gets good reviews. I could always watch Get Back all again on a heatwave day, I guess.

I think you have to have some awareness of current geopolitics and have watched the talking head political shows to understand some of the nuances. This is probably what's holding it back from being a top 5 (maybe even top 10) show on Netflix.

I was wondering if I would be able to tolerate this.
It’s fun, but doesn’t really know if it’s trying to be serious or Guy Ritchie silly. The relationship angles are taken serious, but the whole hitman for hire and independent spy agents shooting up London is very over the top. Plus the Christmas theme makes it feel a bit like a Die Hard film. It’s light and entertaining, but it’s not The Diplomat.

The Silo season 2 is a lot better than the first one so far.

I’m going to start The Agency next - an American version of The Bureau from France, which was an excellent espionage and political thriller that spanned five seasons.

keep me updated on this one. cast is interesting at least.

started a rewatch of The Sopranos. I forgot just how good this show was.

of course. i watch all sci-fi. i never read the Dune books so its a little hard to connect since its 10,000 years or something like that before the events of the movie.
I haven’t read the books but loved the films. Sounds like the series is worth diving into? I might wait for a few more episodes to build up.

I’m only 3 episodes in so far and it’s a lot of setup and backstory. Some of it is interesting and some kind of boring. There’s nothing else on so you might as well

Jamie Foxx reveals 'mystery illness' that hospitalized him for weeks in new Netflix special

I remember he said it was serious but thank God he got over it. And he thanked people for their well wishes when he disappeared. So he then decided to save it to sell the story to Netflix?

Malcolm in the Middle is getting a reboot. I saw Bryan Cranston's name and struggled to figure out where he was in the show since I know him primarily as his Breaking Bad personal.

100 Years of Solitude is pretty good. Definitely captures the feel of the book, from what I remember of it.

I finished Chef's Table. I liked half of the 4 chefs showcased here. The noodles one was a little more interesting.

I'm re-watching Odio il Natale. But really I should be watching Lioness.

I could not find anything to watch, so I’m rewatching The Recruit after seeing that S2 comes out next month

So far Ben Whishaw seems to be given witty lines. Reminds me of his character in The Hour. Keira Knightley's looks are on the cusp between starring and supporting roles.

It would have been nice if the flashbacks were just Knightley, just Whishaw or just their time both together because they're now on top of the pre-shooting flashbacks.

Anyone watch Star Wars Skeleton Crew?

I have 2 Disney+ memberships including one with an extra member.....but all occupied by other people. Worth reclaiming one to watch it?

I think its geared towards the younger sect. Its got children in it.

Oh. Review in the paper I read it had that scrappy quality not seen since Han Solo.

Some men walking behind me were raving about Landman and Billy Bob Thorton for at least 2 blocks today.

Landman is an excellent show

Shogun wins at Golden Globes. I couldn't get past the third episode of Shogun. I would rate The Diplomat ahead of it but then I like watching politics.

At least the critics echoed my thinking of The Bear's third season.

It’s the best show of the year hands down.

Okay. I'll try to get past the third episode. I'm at the part where the Portuguese guy gets lost at sea and then is back to blackmail the English bloke. At least I think that's where I was. The whole Japanese court thing was proceeding at a plodding manner. I guess I was thinking it was going to be like Last Samurai.

Once it ditched the flashbacks half way through it started moving at a pace that was interesting. Too neat and tidy at the end. I don't know if they were aware they will get a second series or not. There was no point for either female assassins to survive. Or the fish and chips lady.

It would be nice to see more if only for Whislaw and Knightley to show more of their platonic relationship.

I started Special Ops Lioness Season 2. I didn't expect Zoe Saldana to be the principal action character for the first episode.

Also watched a bit of Dune Prophecy. More courtly intrigue + sex scenes + magic/witchcraft stuff + a few alien planet CG shots...dragged out for much longer than 3 hours. What is the point of it?

The guy in Severance is 51. Maybe they shouldn't wait so many years to make a follow up season because at this rate he might age out of the show.

The Silo S2 was so much better than the first season. They really found a good pace and managed to find a good balance between leaving some mystery to be solved while not torturing us with compounding unanswered questions.

I tried watching the second season of Mayfair Witches, but I kept tuning out and just ogling the hot lead character.

I finished the second season of Lidia Poet. It improved on the first one. There is a love triangle now for Matilda De Angelis. The master plot stitched into the six episodes this season is more complex. There's more support from the De Angelis' on screen brother. The costumes and backdrops are a notch above the first season. And Eduardo Scarpetta has way better hair.

Really looking forward to the third season. The final goodbye scene on the train was rom/com drama par excellence.

I started Night Agent Season 2. I don't remember much about the first season. I remember the guy manning the phone and saving the girl and the oriental lady being his handler, but I don't recall the final episodes with the lady President.

So far the Farsi is giving me flashbacks. My aunt was going to tell me something about it but she is waiting for me to finish all ten episodes. I guess it has to do with how incredulous it is? I can't see this having too many plot twists.
