What TV Shows Are You Watching?

It did start slow but it gets better

And then it gets slow again. And gets good again.

Maybe not so good for you ADD types
meh. i think i'm burnt out on westerns and i've never been that big on jeff daniels or lady mary. Fwiffo Fwiffo might enjoy that.

why'd you like The Punisher?

You seem to go for the sultry types. I reckon there's a type of woman you gravitate to, and then there's a type of woman who ends up being the companion for the rest of your life.

I like a bit of sleazy sophistication delivered through latin American or Germanic types.

I married a Christina Hendricks type.

She went to my old alma mater. I much prefer the actress who plays Princess Margaret, she has some sultry sophistication going.

Both are lovely ladies. But i agree there something more sultry about Vanessa Kirby ( Princess Margaret). Oh and i have seen her a few times at the theatre and she is electrifying.

Probably that or an assasination

Rambo gets his wish. House of Cards continues with Robin Wright as lead.

And in other Netflix news:
"For 'The Crown,' the Queen Elizabeth II series that reportedly had a budget of about $170 million, 'almost all the press was about how much it cost,' Sarandos said. But in fact, he said, it's 'one of our most efficient shows' in terms of the number of people who have viewed the show and its ability to attract new subscribers."

And yes I recognise that Vanessa Kirby is more attractive than Claire Foy. I just feel disappointed Foy has to give up the role because she can't be made to look older on screen. I adored Christina Hendricks (somewhere in this thread I probably said she's a real woman) but January Jones held a soft spot for me too.

I'm a bit off Michelle Dockery when I found out she was from Essex.

Jumbo the Elephant. Documentary on the famous beast who died in Ontario Canada having been knocked down by a train. Circus promoter Barnum tried to claim he died trying to save a smaller elephant. Two hours of natural history. Blue planet was on just before this.

Second elephant documentary I have seen. There was one about Tyke the elephant who escaped in Hawaii and was shot dead. It dealt with the cruel training methods of circuses.

Blimey, that's in my home province and I haven't a clue what elephant this was.

So for those of us who do not have HBO, how do we get to stream this documentary?

Wait to someone pirates it on YouTube and watch very quickly before it's taken down for copyright infringement.

Watched the Williams documentary on Netflix about Sir Frank Williams racing empire. Very interesting, you won't see gentleman amateurs doing that again any time soon.

Well, nothing really came up as of yet.

So I've found, and I am currently watching, this beautiful doku about "die Agnelli Dynastie":

Richard Morgan's novel was a good and smart recycling of main dickian themes but I fear the Netflix adaptation will disappoint. Nevertheless it's interesting to see that the huge rythm of production of Netflix and Amazon lead showrunners to explore new adaptations and paths of fiction. American Gods is a good example. Not a masterpiece but a very good show.

Watched first episode of McMafia on iPlayer. Not impressed. Russian stereotypes. Not enough development or action.

Boring as hell. Skipped through it. Read that James Norten is a contender for the next James Bond. Don't see it. Despite his age has a schoolboy vibe.

He has a public schoolboy vibe. That would chime with the books.

At least he is not Idris Elba the politically correct, multicultural choice for the role.

Daniel Craig killed the Bond franchise off for me. And the missus and kids are not impressed either.

The thing with Bond, you have to be able to pull off that aristocratic Naval Commander presence and all I got from Daniel Craig was council house foreman navvie or scaffolder done good.

Roger Moore was the only Bond for me. Even coming into somebody else’s role he made it his own. Connery is for those who believe in the whole thing hook, line and sinker.

Craig didn’t work because he has fair hair and is not handsome and is a bit of a scrote in too tiny suits. Special effects etc roll on whoever the leading man is.

Casino Royale was excellent. It all went downhill from there, with the latest movie being an FX/stunt showcase with a paper thin story. The same thing happened with the Pierce Brosnan movies. Started off strong with Goldeneye and then devolved into silliness in later ones.

Jumanji positively surprised me. I went in with low expectations and really enjoyed it.

Grand Potentate Grand Potentate we might as well merge movies and TV threads

I thought the previews seemed interesting at least. The first ep was app setup.

Merge it! It’s not like this forum is active enough that it would be confusing.

Yes, it is excellent. Only thing is that it is quite dark- not just in its morbidity- but its mood. It is an unleavened diet of gloominess. I actually flew on a helicopter once from where most of the series was filmed Siglufjörður (though it was set in Seyðisfjörður)

Season 2 is currently being filmed.

The Bridge (season 4, and the final season) is back. Two episodes in and it is fantastic.

Yes it was dark.
