What TV Shows Are You Watching?

Two eps in and it is ok. Definitely one for the fans not for brining new people in. It’s not as good as the show in it’s early prime but still enjoyable like later seasons.
Yup, agreed.

Debbie’s ghost’s character is one dimensional over played, and you can see the plot coming a mile away, but still enjoyable.

Watched narcos Mexico s3. Really a massive letdown from the previous series.

I thought S1 was good. I caught it a while ago, so I don't remember much. Started S2. Stopped only because I started something else.

Trouble is the show is just not that good.
No, first season was ok. There are some episodes that do well after that. The sequence where Billy Bob is captive in Mexico is fantastic.

Up to the pharma one. Not holding out much hope. But, geez, it looks gorgeous.

yeah the first season was actually good. but it takes a pretty steep decline despite billy bob being fantastic in all the seasons. man's just a great actor.

He is brilliant.

Illeana Douglas as the soak at the bar is a pretty good incidental performance as well.

The first episode of The Beatles: Get Back. It starts off pretty badly, they're rusty and sound like a garage band, but then it starts to gel after a couple of days of rehearsing. It's very clear there's an undercurrent and they've outgrown each other's personalities. With the exception of Ringo, who seems to be just there. Paul's the leader of the band now, but the others resent it, but without his pushing I don't think they would get anything down. Yoko's there all the time next to John as well. The episode ends with George Harrison saying he's finished with the band.

The original filmmaker Michael Lindsay-Hogg pulls George Martin aside and says we need to be giving George Harrison more song time and Martin says that it's Paul and John who write the best songs together, to which he retorts that they don't write songs together anymore.

Expected it to be a better, but there's enough there to reveal the creative process and the personality clashes that made The Beatles split. It wasn't just Yoko Ono.

Finished off The Beatles: Get Back and the second and third episodes are where it's at. You see musicians interplay, delight and creation in full effect. Shouldn't be put off by the first episode, but I think the intent was to show how rusty they were and how quickly they got it together.

The concert on the roof - well a few songs - is great, I've seen clips over the years, and interlaced with comments from those at street level it's fascinating. The hippy fashions are not in evidence at all. Which is interesting, as my father looked like a hippy, albeit in the provinces, in 1973. Thought that look lingered on to the mid-seventies. Not on Savile Row 1970.

I'm looking forward to watching it this coming weekend.

I mentioned this plan to my thirteen-year-old daughter and she said, "That's because you're old, dad!"

I was playing some Velvet Underground in the car recently and my 12 year old told me he doesn’t really like ‘modern music’. He is big on classical stuff since he is learning piano.

We’ll see if those musical tastes survive puberty.

My son has pretty eclectic tastes - he started learning the piano when he was four and then switched to violin when he was five years old and has been playing it since, both in school and state youth orchestras.

He likes modern music, including Japanese pop, some rap and some rock, but he also likes 1950s and 1960s swing and crooners, and a lot of classical music. When we're driving, he'll usually put on classical music but the other day, he surprised me by putting on some Punjabi Bhangra music.

So, hopefully your son will similarly continue to enjoy classical music, while also appreciating more modern music.

I had this in my queue since it was released. Someone I know caught it and said that I should watch. I was under the impression that it was a comedy. Negative. I started last night and just finished the last episode here at work.

K Hart plays a big time comic navigating the Hollywood scene + a wife(and son) about to divorce him, a team trying to keep things together and an older brother(W Snipes) who leaches onto him(failed car wash, failed restaurant, etc.)

When the team heads to Philadelphia for some shows.....$hit goes down. Murder(s), gangsters, lies and deceit.

This is Hart and Snipes in serious roles. Very easy watch.

3.9/5.

I figured out what was going to happen during the first ep. I am sure most of you will also. The ending was a letdown...but still a solid watch.

Station Eleven. It’s a bad time to release a post-pandemic apocalyptic drama, but this is pretty good. The timeline is chopped to buggery, which makes things a little confusing but spared us going through yet another disaster from beginning to end. Beautifully filmed and acted, the story really Is the star. Don’t watch if you want Hollywood characters and plots. 8/10

Why is it good?

I watched this with the family while we were on holidays last week, and we really enjoyed it.

The series is based on the League of Legends computer game, but it's not at all necessary to know anything about the game in order to understand and enjoy the series (I certainly didn't know anything about it).

Highly recommended for those who like "steampunk", dystopic, science fiction animation.

Love the soundtrack. Thanks for the recommendation JMan - I’ll add it to my holiday watch list.

It was a good watch. I don’t know anything about league of legends so I was a bit lost on the backstory and significance but it’s always nice to see good quality animated shows

Ahhhhh, man! That’s it for Hightown for another year. Maybe not quite as tight as S1 but it still came in strong.

I’d forgotten they are only 8 episode series, so I was expecting a few more twists before the end.

I’ve watched three eps of The Witcher S1 and it still hasn’t sparked any interest in me. In spite of absolutely everyone I know raving about it.

it takes time to get going and you have to enjoy fantasy or have played the video games or read the books.

Because It's garbage. I watched all S1 last year on a plane ride and it was a hot mess. I then realised many months after the fact that it was across several timelines.

As Rambo says, if you are an avid gamer or reader of the book series, it'd be the best thing since sliced bread.

A Netflix show I enjoyed is 'Lupin'. In its original French translation not the awful dubbed version. I watched it last year, haven't watched the second part which I should catch up on this xmas as I seldom watch shows these days.

That's been in my queue. Need to finally give it a shot.

beforeigners season 2 on hbo max and the torrents. you get a lovely view of the lead actress's ass for a good long while in episode 2.

The Silent Sea.

I just watched the first episode. It’s nicely filmed and badly dubbed. So far the plot is shaping up a little like Alien, but it hasn’t gotten too far into the story yet.

Too early to give it a rating yet, but I will continue with it.

mayor of kingstown. up to episode 8. jeremy renner plays a "fixer" type in a small shit town in michigan. its been keeping my interest but i wouldn't go so far as to say its anything special.

We just signed up for Apple+ trial so the kids could watch the Peanuts shows. Saw an add for Foundation which looks really good! Also want to catch the Velvet Underground doco.

Foundation is quite good. Ted Lasso is exceptional
