What's Making You Happy Today?

True, but I was pumping iron for most of it.

It's 20c and the patios in the financial district are full. See how many navy blue and charcoal suits are out there.

But kidding aside, it's nice to know some of us still have money to throw away at alcohol.

Pizza outlet - Indian woman (I am pretty sure the franchise is owned by Vietnamese but whatever) - with Aishwarya Rai eyes asks me if she wants my slice reheated because my mate's panzerotti took forever to heat.

I'm almost caught speechless with the cat like eyes.

Little bit mate. I violated my no drinking on the weekend rule. 28oz Goose Island IPA, 28oz Stella, tall can of Mill Street Organic, tall can of Stella, 3 pints of London Pride, 2 shots of Jameson.

For someone who drinks so much you'd think you'd have a better taste in alcohol. Jameson, really?

Well - that was the sequence of drinks in 6 hours and the two Jamesons were my call for "one for the road". The mate I was with wanted dark rum at that point which at this pub meant Captain Morgan so within that selection, not sure I'd want to try to see if they had Lagavulin 16 to chase down the last pint of Fuller's.

If I want to drink proper whisky, I don't start with beer and I'm a bit too old to ask for liquid cocaine, shots of tequilia with a 30% sugar content or whatever. Jameson's sweet, not peaty, won't make you gag and 4 or 5 shots has little to no ill effects.

I had two Singhas for lunch and then a cup of coffee afterwards. Getting wired for my 13 1/2 hour day now. Yes!

Once I get over my course, I'll hit the whisky bottle too. Hmm, what do I have at home? Rubbish really. I was polishing off with Glenfiddich 12 last night.

My younger sibling got a new job: VP of investments at a mid sized publicly listed investment firm.

I'm so glad double booking my brother's wedding didn't come back to haunt me. The other date forgot - or still thinks it's tomorrow night.

At the pre-briefing briefing today. The colonel is reading from a mission statement about an upcoming exercise.

". . . returning to a glearning example of-- What? What the fuck is 'glearning'?"

"I believe that's 'gleaming,' sir," says some toady in the front.

"As you were." He mumbles through the rest of it, then says, "I don't like it. Clean up the verbiage. Polish it."

At which point I jump in with, "Till it glearns, sir?"

Yeah.

Not quite fired, but a few stern phone calls later, my orders are amended; I'm leaving this gig on Friday.

I have the summer off. Imagine that.

Hahaha. So you're still employed after the summer?

Going back to school to pick up some cyber training and taking a consulting gig part-time. I was counting on having this job through September, but it's okay. I'm literally better off without it. Next year will bring 6 months of work, all of it training. I'll likely deploy again right after I get my commission next year.

lets hope that hillary and victoria nuland haven't started our new war with Russia by then.

Eh. I consider idiotic leadership as a sort of job security.
i get that. war's are good for the business of the military and the business of the military is going to war. no so much winning them these days. but we'll kick some ass at going to war. we'll go the shit out of some wars.

Um, no more foreign wars. Hillary is going to give all Americans a guaranteed wage, focus on green energy and do something dumbass like free tuition. Civil war maybe

I remember I nicked a condom and tampon from a "for your eyes only" box in the bathroom of the restaurant last night and it became a running gag for the stops during the rest of the evening.

I am finished my course! 10 weeks! No class, no man, no gods shall tie me down from pursuing whatever the bloody hell I want to do.

Felt knackered since yesterday but an hour plus at the driving range has me awake again. Must be the oxygen from physical activity.

Last day of work today. Done. Canada day holiday tomorrow 149 years young. Suck ass fireworks but don't care. Flying out in the morning to Paradise to see the dogs & Donks. Oh yeah, and the old lady too. Will flip flop: one week there, one week here x 3. Six weeks of being outside, tools & machinery. Get to drive the Land Rover & Jeep again. Sagebrush & wild horses. 36 C all day. Desert, mountain hideaway. Hang out at the bodega. A fucking bodega in Canada. Shoot the shit with the Mexican pickers. Spit on the French Canadian pickers; filthy, dreadlocks, pepper, living in their cars motherfuckers. Finish building the meditation garden. electrical installations. Fucking live, breath BC bud with Toonie & Bones. Fucking stoner geriatric garlic farming neighbours. Drive up to Savonna. Get fit for some boots. Daniel Gordon Thompson River cowboy boots. Single stitch loco weed pattern modified. Old school, pointy square toe, nipped to perfection, crepe sole, roper heel.

Live like a King. Sleep like the dead.

Why do you still need to maintain the other residence if you aren't working there anymore?

Friday was officially the first day but it was a statutory holiday, so Monday is the official day I am in charge of a new department. Have a new manager as a direct report and a bunch of people under him - about 30 odd people in the new umbrella.

No title change. No compensation change. Doing it for the agony I reckon.

I beat this old man with a cane on my way to work! Also a couple of fatties and people absorbed in their mobiles. I'm on the mend!

I even j walked one street.

One of my Joes got his ass kicked passing fake twenties at a strip club. Apparently a stripper's sweat made the ink run. Dude called me at 1:45 AM to come pick him up from a body shop after the bouncers beat his ass and fucked up his car. Guy owes me a solid for life. He's in ROTC; he'll be an officer one day. Filing under: "will collect."

Did he make them himself?

So he said. Kids these days, I'll tell ya. The bouncers offered him a deal: either an ass-kicking out back, or they'd call the cops. He's a tough little bastard and took it like a man. I've gotta give him props for that one.

I'm happy I was able to share my brother's wedding photographs with some of my female friends and none of them noticed my wedding date was a female friend that was known to them. Jealousy averted.

Happily noshing on grapes and having a tea in my parents' air conditioned home whilst looking at things wilt and rot outside in the heat.

Train riders help lost Syrian family in Toronto

I've been reading articles like this every about two weeks since we let the "flood gates" open. Somewhere deep down in my DNA, I'm programmed to do the same. It makes it difficult to contemplate emigrating from here.

That said my work mate's sponsored family are on their feet now. They've moved out. The wife with the better English is working for the first time in her life. The man is working in a factory making stuff for mid teens an hour.

Absolutely smashing day at the range today. 9 of 10 balls going my way. I changed my grip to be stronger and now I'm back in sync again. I'm so ready for the game this Friday. Hopefully my short game and putting hold up.
