What's Making You Happy Today?

There’s a difference between luxury and fun car geez. For the money of a brand new civic you could buy 4 miatas, a nice preowned 370z, a decent classic car, a 2014 (maybe 15 even) Mustang V8, etc.

It’s only a second car anyways. I’m thinking about getting a 1969 El Camino for surfboards and just getting around town for errands such. Less than $15k for a good one with a v8. As long as maintenance is ok it’ll keep running forever.

What does it matter, if you're stuck in the traffic along with the plebs? A great equalizer is heavy rush hour traffic. Then the car becomes just a vehicle to get you from A to B.

Then you have the eventual replacement with electrical cars, what then for your gas guzzler? The end of petrol/diesel cars is coming and being a vintage model is not going to save you. Time to exit this particular market.

Different needs, different wants.

I’d rather be stuck in traffic in a nice car than in a boring one. Even in traffic one could get ahead quite a bit in a more sporty car, especially because you’re allowed to overtake on both sides and can take a right on red. In the mornings I’m the king of the road, 4 lanes all to myself, no police and no speed cameras.

Gas will be around for another 30 years at least, and I don’t think Rambo is keeping his civic for that long. Gas is cheap as chips over here anyways, I spend less than $25/week on a gas with my 485hp 6.4L V8.

the bill CesareRomiti and Pimpernel Smith Pimpernel Smith still have to settle in return for their premature comeback should be a nice start for a half decent car

I do believe my agent settled it in full: €1.50 a word, so long as it strings into a sentence. Index linked, so long as the same dubious quality as before. Double time after CET 20:00hrs and extra special bonuses for enraged madness shown on all sides, including my own. Gay porn not allowed.

So what made you decide on a new civic? Obviously you care, otherwise you wouldn’t have posted it here.
It’s a 2nd car and it’s just for getting around. We wanted something new and we wanted something fuel efficient. Honda had cheap financing. We liked the car. Pretty straight forward.

Fair enough. So now you have a Camry and a Civic?

Dude, he's already told you, he's moved above and beyond your car, thrust ratio and phallic kicks.

You're stuck in the same traffic jam with some peasant who's ahead of you. What do you do, call upon your Rolex Daytona or Porsche design for help?

I’ve never understood the want of having a fancy sports car just to sit in traffic.

I’m not always stuck in traffic. Half my drives have no traffic. You’re just jealous you can’t hear a gloriously rumbling American V8 because the government has taxed it too much. As an oil man you should favor it, no?

Is this the car thread or the I'm a yank and I'm stuck in traffic thread?

Fuel is cheap here. I couldn’t justify my FJ Cruiser for city driving if I wasn’t living in the US.

Cheap cars, guns and girls.

On my morning walk to work, an African woman in her 1996 birdshit celica shouted out to me “you look sharrp!”

I said thank you and told her I was a sapeur.

It is my second last Monday 7am teleconference with this head office department tomorrow. Hurrah. The department I talk to on the opposite line is closing down at the end of the year.

This is why everyone should have Italian friends (and, unlike me, should actually listen to what they say):

He was right, of course!

Back in my music room: need to ditch the cool jazz album covers (yes, one missing on the left) and get some real paintings in, not to mention a box for the cables, but otherwise a very fine vista, including the lack of vinyl and a record player:

I got a strange card from one of the contractors I terminated due to "corporate policies". It effectively says thank you for canning me. I was never able to raise his rate because we've had a freeze for the past two years but he did have some family issues for which he had to go overseas for a time. I somehow agreed to let him work half way across the world for a few months. It was ineffective but he at least was able to pay the bills.

He got a new gig down the street for double what he's making now. He's not shackled by the constraints of pushing paper under me. I'm happy for him. They will even make allowance for his personal issues. He said to me that if I had continued his contract he would have felt obligated to stay out of loyalty to me - even if there was no change in the rate.

It would appear that the politically correct fever has subsided in my residence. Although the Christmas tree in the lobby was always a fixture, other common areas were decreed to be entirely secular. Now, poinsettias are being placed in the common areas. There is no longer a stern warning against residents hanging a ribbon or wreath on your front door. The buses in my parents' suburb proudly say Merry Christmas. All is well again.

Okay I didn't have bruised ribs. I had some kind of rib muscle pull. After almost a week, I'm nearly 100%. I might even be able to hit the gym this Saturday.

After three months I finally merged my locked in pension from my old firm into my current firm. What an odyssey including at one point holding on to a cash out cheque of my pension (definitely 0% investment growth there) and getting blatantly wrong advice from the Human Resources' pension and benefit person.
