What's Making You Happy Today?

Kopped a Technics SA 500 1979 receiver from a holiday market on Sat. $30. Looked clean. Dude said that it worked fine. Got it home. Hooked it up. Such a clean/warm sound. Loving this investment.

I haven't used solid state gear in over 16 years. My turntable engineer uses top of the line Naim amps but I couldn't tell him the truth what I thought of his sound system.

I'm happy because the suspicious symptom they found in my mother over a year ago is now inexplicably gone. The specialists can't detect it anymore so instead of twice or thrice checkups, they'll ask her to come back a year later. She's in the clear.

Having 5 old fashioneds and steak frites at lunch on the company's expense.

Jesus. You're like an iron man

I got up around 5:30. Got into the office shortly after 7. Okay as of 7pm I'm just waiting for my staff to work. Just sent out the last plans I owed some people before they go on their holidays.

I'll probably come back tomorrow morning to pick up the Christmas goods that company got me so I can take it to a food bank.

But I do fancy going out tonight. We'll see.

Reading about my former work mate's Christmas party for work in London. Proper stuff. People drinking until they collapse on the train. Getting kicked out of bars in the square mile.

After 32 years of owning the building, my company decided to put their logo on the 31st floor exterior. We walked across to city hall to get a vantage point and a speech from the chief. I work in the financial district so it joins the dozens and dozens of other financial services companies who have their logo displayed somewhere.

I sent all my staff home over an hour ago although one of them is still doggedly persistent in clearing up some last minute things so I'm waiting for him in my office. I rang all the remote staff to go home as well.

I'm at work by myself once again on Christmas Eve in a dark suit, light blue shirt, and dark blue tie. It appears most people dragging themselves to work today are in casual clothes. Around lunch time, all the subsidiaries that I support will be off and I'll try to go to the men's only club to have a few drinks until all the early homebound trains are over and I pick up the rest of my belongings for a night at the family home with my parents.

During these hours, I'm reminded by Nicolas Cage's Family Man - ordering an emergency strategy meeting after an all day Christmas Eve session. I realize, however, I'm not quite as heartless as that character.

And before people ask, I'm not of Buddhist, Menorah lighting, Friday prayer prostrating religious backgrounds. I do love Christmas. The eve for a secular single person locked up in a financial district tower is often quite like that movie.

Thankfully after two hours of delays, rail service resumes. Bloody wankers are committing suicide earlier and earlier every year.

Anyway, I was tempted to take Uber 40km west but hopefully this train can take me all the way or at least the vast majority of it.

The scene: Xbox360 FIFA 15 Ultimate Team.
EASports gave away two JumboPlusGold packs of Ultimate Team cards per user over Christmas/Boxing Day. Opened one pack and got Karim Benzema. This fit in well b/c my UT squad is mainly spanish/LaLiga based. A free 85-rated striker? Wonderful. Slotted right in.

That was yesterday. Today, logged onto FUT again and played the FUTmas tournament, winning another rare Gold Players pack. Crack that open, and see an In Form Antoine Griezmann. Have never pulled an IF player before - absolutely ecstatic. Plus, he's a Striker rather than a Left Winger, so switch the formation to a 2-striker lineup, and play Benzema and Griezmann up front. Both French, both based in La Liga, 100% chemistry. My offense has been absolutely unstoppable since in FUT seasons.

What part? I spent some time there myself. You doing any diving? I don't know what beer you're drinking but I definitely don't remember any of it being particularly "good".
Just south of dangriga. We will do some snorkeling later this week.

You may be right about the beer being average in an objective sense. In my experience, vacation beer is nearly always good. In this case, the Belikan is going down smooth.

Do they have the chocolate stout this year? That shit was pretty tasty.

Placencia was my last stop before I headed in to Honduras.

My little girl made me Christmas card. Handmade with a thoughtful message. We're going to the aquarium then for Neopolitan style pizza, then a pantomime show finishing off with afternoon tea. But first, I have to get her a hot chocolate.

One of my former directs got a certification that she was trying for a year. I get to set up the celebration now.
