Why Are You Pissed Off Today?

I've actually opened that rather fine Macallan and not quite 'Trane, but I've got some Bobby Hackett on and I'm coasting along most swingingly.

This visa wait is killing me. Why does it take weeks/months to send a simple letter whether your case has been selected? It's tough to plan your life with so much uncertainty.

Did you give notice at work already?

Nope. But my apt lease runs out next month.

I forget - is the firm hiring you assisting? You could surely ask for some reasonable moving reimbursement if there are delays including temporary stay somewhere for awhile.

The visa is lottery based, and only allows one to work from October onwards. I don't know the results of the lottery yet, but my lease is ending. It's just annoying timing, and I don't want to have to move 3 times in one year. Would rather just have a few months vacation.

The immigration department spent $2bn on an electronic system, but somehow failed (ironic because they got money from the "tech" H1B visas), meaning all 200k applications are still manually processed and sent via snail mail, meaning it could take months to know whether you've been selected.

I'm not sure importing you was what he meant when he said "Make America Great Again"

He's to Antifa what ISIS is to Mussies.

Bro is already shopping for his black skinny jeans -scouring Amazon for a bandana. And quickly joining Berkley U forums trying to find out where they all get that weird flag.

He'd be living in war zone France if it wasn't for the people in the UK that stopped the influx of arabaca beans. Brexit, FTW.

Selling cheap MtM sport coats on eBay. Not even a nibble in weeks. If the tag said 40R they would be sold.

My wife came home from university yesterday and showed me a bit of paper that had been stuck under her windscreen wiper in the carpark. Apparently, the paper had been placed on all the cars in the carpark.

It said:

A Hollywood film, just released in Australia, would have us believe that a court case in 2000 proved the official version of the Holocaust. Did it really? One of the litigants of that trial, British historian David Irving, had claimed that key elements of the official version are demonstrably false and want revision.

American author, Michael Hoffman, recently made the following observation about the new film:

"I think that it's interesting to note that history is so often tried by Hollywood. They... create these puppet figures, these simulacrums, these strawmen of David Irving in the movie, and then attack that and present that as the reality. And I think that it's an indicator of their insecurity and weakness that they have to do this second-hand through Tinsel Town rather than directly through a debate with bona-fide revisionist historians."

You have by chance seen the propaganda, gentlemen. Now get the plain facts of the matter.
[Link to website which has "chemtrails" in the name]

This is, as I hope people know, grossly incorrect.

Irving published material and gave speeches in which he denied that the Holocaust occurred. He claimed that the gas chambers in extermination camps such as Auschwitz-Birkenau did not exist, that the "story" of the camps was concocted by British Intelligence during WWII, and that "mock-ups" of gas chambers were constructed by Poles after the end of WWII.

Deborah Lipstadt wrote a book which contradicted Irving and other Holocaust deniers. Irving sued her for defamation, and deliberately chose to sue in the UK, which has very strict defamation laws and which places the burden of proof on the person accused of defamation. In other words, the person who has supposedly been defamed does not need to prove that they have been defamed - the person being sued needs to prove that they were not defaming the other person.

Despite the considerable burden of the "reverse onus of proof" being on Lipstadt, Irving was comprehensively defeated. If you have a few hours, you can read through the decision here:

Irving v Penguin Books Ltd, Deborah E. Lipstat [2000] EWHC QB 115

http://www.bailii.org/ew/cases/EWHC/QB/2000/115.html

In other words, Irving's version was proven in court to be demonstrably false. There was a debate between historians and Irving lost comprehensively. Yet, despite that, there are people at a university here in Australia handing out leaflets which purport to reverse that decision and which claim that Irving was wronged.

I'm pissed off! Who's handing out this rubbish at universities???

C'mon journeyman - you are in Queensland - Its probably the University board and Vice Chancellors giving $$ to this.

DO NOT buy a Lifeproof iPhone case, at least not for an iPhone 7.

Nicely designed for water and dirt proofness. Buttons work nicely.

You just can't fucking talk to anyone through it in hands-free or otherwise.

Hello Lifeproof. Some of us want to have a fucking chat on the phone!

Anyway, it is my Director of Finances fault. He specced it out. So I made him run out to the mall and get me an Otterbox Defender instead of waiting for our mobile contractor to get around to dropping it off.

Didn't I post an article somewhere that young people don't speak on their phones anymore? They had to be taught how to answer a telephone and leave voicemail.

I can see one getting frustrated sending text messages to a landline and getting no reply.

Every day I am noticing more of the increasing effects of cell phone addicition, and it's sad. Parents, I guess, don't realize that they are just building pathways in the brain that make it easier to become addicted to other things.

Almost daily I have to honk at some asshole that lets everyone in front of him drive off because he's zombied in on the phone.

60 minutes did an expose (gag at Anderson Cooper, but whatever).

I collide with a pedestrian zombie about three times a week. There are no safe spaces anymore.

I sometimes think the most effective terrorist attack would be to kill a satellite relay or a server station and cause a rippling effect in the system.
The despair would be immeasurable! The ultimate test for Western civilisation!

Is this what you think of on your spare time? Why are you pining for Western civilisation to end - assuming..you're part of Western civilisation like the rest of us.

Luckily my profession does not depend on constant internet access as much as others. I could even work without electricity.
I would be dependant on fossil fuels, though.

Aw shit. Sorry to hear about this.

Well, she's outlived the normal age range by at least 7 years so she has had a good life. Sweet girl. It's just time. She's almost blind, she's deaf and can't get around much and just sleeps.

You always think they will live forever.

You play by the rules, the candidate must have "a Master in Engineering" and this was reiterated in a bid clarification meeting and then you find the person they chose has zero academic qualifications beyond basic schooling. What mischief is this? Really shoddy and a whiff of the usual brown envelopes and skulduggery one associates with the more opportunistic end of the business.

It really is annoying when you get shafted yet again.

So the UK government came up with this private pension scheme.
I guess they've used up the public pension money already.
Anyway. My boss had to enlist me (since it's a mandatory scheme) even though I did not want to, . I have better chances to have a secure retirement by using the little money I pay in to play the lotteries.
However, I was signed up and now have to opt out.
As was to be expected, the website is a total mess. Since I hadn't logged in before I had to create an account.
Easier said than done: I tried several times, following the instructions, or so I thought.
Turns out, that although not mandatory, one has to fill out the e-mail section in order to get a user name (your e-mail address).
I had also unticked the "receive e-mail" button (since I was going to opt out and am not interested in promotional messages), which probably means that I won't get the confirmation e-mail for my account. TopTopIT™!

Are there no rules anymore for practising golf at the driving range? Three Chinese men come over and spend most of their time on their mobile or talking to each other a good fifty decibels louder than anyone else including my intermittent mutters of f*ck or jesus. I thought after a basket they would quiet down out of fatigue but then some women and a child come along - not practising golf, but just taking a stroll behind you. There needs to be a quiet zone at ranges preferably with words written in Chinese.

Speaking of etiquette or lack thereof, this fat fucking tool comes up to me at the gym yesterday as I'm taking a break on the leg machine, asks me agressively if I'm going to do a set.

I said yeah, when I recover a bit and shoot off an email. Maybe you could use one of the other two free squat machines dickhead? He mutters something and does about 30s peddling on a bike blowing hard the whole time.

Dude didn't even have a towel and he wants me to get up so he can paste his sweaty lard arse on the machine I'm using? Get fucked mate I'll rek you olo.

The Missus wants to go to London and do the shows, museum and shopping stuff before we go to see my family up in Cheshire. Anyway, I've told her we're going to have pay good money for a hotel somewhere in the area she wants to go with a car park, etc. So now she's getting all cute on me with apartments she's found in the Isle Dogs "because it's near City Airport" and Watford and other unsuitable places in south London.

The other thing that's pissed me off is that the company that provides me with FLAC tracks hasn't reloaded my order that went wrong as promised. Very poor service.

I have a sore throat. Not sure if it's because of the booze consumed this week or it's because I have a sore throat. Here's hoping it was the booze.

Just bring a tent and you can sleep in any of the parks for free!

Looks like Novotel I am afraid. No Ritz for me.

Beats airbnb! Why not stay in a hipster shoreditch hotel? Should be a bit cheaper and not as sad as a Novotel. Ace, Hoxton, Courthouse, the Curtain, etc. Good for people watching too. I'm sure you could take a few pics for the disagreeable thread.

I stayed at the Crowne Plaza Shoreditch shortly after it opened. I liked it. They had a nice rooftop restaurant with a great view too.
