Sounds bloody awful. Better to be out saving the world than that crap.

It would only be worth it for a juicy Ted Bundy type case where you dine off it for years and have satisfaction that you played a small part in bringing justice to the perp. Small time corruption, bad cops and boy/girl fights is not for men on a mission elsewhere.

It would be obvious that you are a lying moron and if i was the judge i’d hold you in contempt of the court. A person in witness protection would pass off any jury request to their handler who would deal with it without the need for you to go to court. Any one actually in witness Protection that would show up for jury duty is a moron. The prosecutor or judge would be aware of this and at the minimum require some sort of official confirmation.

Best way to avoid jury duty is to wear an enormous pocket handkerchief, an hermes tie and gucci horse bit loafers and of course have a law degree.

As much as it hurts, it is all part of business. You win and lose and then get some of them back.

We have a very big French behemoth rival that suddenly cuts into business streams and you get kicked out and then 12-18 months down the line you find they stormed in with much higher rates beyond competitiveness and then didn't deliver and you're back in. But the mystery remains how did they do it? Because everyone says they didn't want them and it was like you were working for them from day one. And they shake their heads and cringe. Well, because they owned certain procurement people and higher management in your organisation.

It really pisses me off. Because it's always the same story, a certain public school accented Brit who speaks the lingo of higher management and lulls them into a trap with utter, yet plausible BS. He's now gone to the Italians working some schmutter on bespoke digital platforms that you can get for free in an App store. Hopefully that will be his downfall.
 
found out one of my slighly elderly family members thought they were texting anderson cooper from cnn on whatsapp. this imposter had convinced said family member to send him $500 via a cryptocurrency app in exchange for a box of free goodies from the anderson cooper show. thankfully i was able to stop it before it went through.

There are so many alarm bells in that story I am shocked it almost went through.
 
We get the Indian/Pakistani Microsoft scams over here. All comes from a Norwegian number.

I knew it was a bit fishy when they said "It's because of all the games you play....'', now if they had said all the porn you've been watching...

im in retail stores that deal with money transfers quite often and i see people buying itunes and google play gift cards for these scams constantly. its very common with the elderly.

Ringing a restaurant in a village that closes at 2000. It's 1915 and your host desk can't pick up the phone? Who the bloody hell are you seating?
 
Made my first cup of coffee for the morning. Still half asleep, but after about six gulps I realized the milk (freshly opened) was off. Three more cups with a new milk carton, but I still have that rancid taste in my head/mouth.

Only outdoor dining and drinking ends for us in another week. But the new indoor dining and drinks have last call at 2100 with shut down by 2200 which is worse then the 2200/2300 pairing from the last go around.

What's the point in going out for 2 hours in the evening? I'm literally going to have to order one for the road.
 
Took me 90 minutes to get through all this anti fraud, anti corruption rubbish at work including the most crazy quizzes like word search or scramble some words. This is what happens when you don't have dodgy ethics and you keep smashing the next button or fast forwarding videos on mute to get to the tests.

Diversity. Yes I was asked that. I said to the head of HR who kept insisting on a video call that I chime in on diversity at the workplace. I said I was born in Canada in the most cosmopolitan city in the world and I've always just assumed diversity is innate in all of us. The white CxO peer also born in the same city chuckled. Advancement and hiring is by merit. Colour or creed have never been a thought in my mind when it is measured against merit. No one can convince me staffing 5 sub par Hispanics to meet a quota is better than staffing 5 whatever ethnic background they are competent and effective people.
 
Well that was a horrible test. I am hoping for a grade of C from A to D so that I only have a 12 month development plan. If I get the worst score I am banned from retesting for 2 years.

Of course I wasn’t entirely myself because I said if it was my former boss would get a call I was abusive to a fake employee.

Don't worry about, wait until you've had a couple of hundred thousand Euro losses consistently year in year out from a business unit and the shareholders won't let you restructure because they all like to go down to Tuscany three times a year for the food and vino and don't want to upset the office manager.

Well I had the bad news yesterday, that indeed we haven't made any money Q3 on account of the strong Euro. And I'm locked into a number of those US$ contracts until 2023. Moot point because none of my clients are going to be conducive to any pay rises and now their increasing payment terms to 60 or even 120 days. Q1 and Q2 I thought we were out and into the green pastures, now it's grim and 2021 I will be locked into survival mode yet again. And then there's the overheads in Italy like an Albatross around my neck.

I was looking forward to Christmas even in this lockdown, now it's all going to be weighing on my mind and I will be waking up in the wee wee hours buzzing with it all.

Took all of 0.5 days holiday this year. Thought I could get 5 days off after today...no chance, back in tomorrow now.

One idiot asked for some figures and didn't put a date on it. Then came back demanding where are they?

Like I'm going to action anything with no deadline.

Oh well, back in work tomorrow on several fronts.
 
Why do you need to go to work if you're not making any money? It's christmas, nobodody is going to notice anyway.
 
I just got told we have to get cracking on responding to an RFP. Answers due Monday - which was the day off for Boxing Day. Strategy sessions on Tuesday. Start brainstorming with your staff today and tomorrow.

I'm not in Europe. I'm in North America. Legally you don't need to provide paid time off.

I had delayed my Christmas week off to the week of 4th January joking I converted to Orthodox Christianity to celebrate Christmas on 7th January. Now there are sessions every day that week. I have a few things I can't get out of on the week of 11th January so I reckon now I celebrate Orthodox New Year.

Christmas Eve is not a public holiday here and there's a difference between losing money/not making any money and covering overheads.

In a global business, it never sleeps as you well know.

Sometimes you need R&R and a break from the 24hr business and news cycle. It seems the best time for that is increasingly the Chinese New Year.

Overtime and working holidays here is a legal nightmare of utmost exposure.

You get a hungry young graduate in, have them working some extra hours and the probability is they'll go off with burn-out, as it's seen as a badge of honour, for which you will be 100% responsible for putting them under undue pressure and ruining their career. No one works overtime or weekends here. Unless you're at the ''executive'' level in which case you can work what you want.

I see all the management messages from regional offices for the Christmas holidays stating their staff will be monitoring emails during their holidays. Couldn't send that type of message out, that could/would be used against me later. My message is clear to the staff: maintain radio silence for the duration of the holiday.

Anyway I bought my holidays off me, but I couldn't do that for the employees. I've two people I would have liked to do that for, but they have to take those holidays in January now or lose them. I can't buy them off them, as that will be interpreted in legislation as applying undue pressure and bullying staff to give up their entitlements.

Does it cover contents, too? Or just repairs/replacement of the actual dwelling?

both generally. you have to set policy limits for the items and provide proof of ownership sort of thing. they make it a real pain in the ass.
