Ask A Quick Question

If only I could get victorian tailored clothes!

You couldn't handle the cloth. You always looking for funny materials with special texture and hybrid fabrics. Why not try some 20 oz wool. Maybe you'd be too hot or your feet would hurt. You poor little volleyball playing bitch. In all those old photos those people are wearing not cashmere hippo leather blends you cunt. There don't need to predistress or special wash there fabrics. It's goddam heavy weight wool you fool worn day in and day out.

This is more your speed though:

I know I'm gonna get slaughter, but might as well ask. I don't have any of the fancy suits many of you have, in fact mine is just an off the rack suit I got a year or so ago, brand is not important, one of them is navy and the other one is between a really dark charcoal and navy. I have a delegation from a SA country coming to my job this incoming week and well I never ever wear ties or suits so I haven't worked on that part of my wardrobe as of yet and don't have any dress shirts either. This is so far what I have and that blue and white strip shirt I should get on Saturday. LKP LKP ConchitaWurst ConchitaWurst Pauly Chase Pauly Chase Chorn Chorn and any others are welcome to help. I have done my best to work with the colors so they look as accurate as possible.

Both of those look fine.

Personally I'd wear whichever suit you prefer, the blue strips shirt, and one of the thirsts with strips - they're a bit more business-like. I'm not sure what people think of vertical strip shirt with diagonal strip thirst, but I really like it.

Try the bottom look, but swap the pink shirt for the new blue strip shirt.

Thanks, that's the kind of criticism that I need and that the forum needs. That shirt on the bottom is actually lavender, very light lavender.

Have to agree with Crisp. Paisley tie not business conservative enough. How conservative or important is this meeting? Sometimes your counter part might not even be as dressed up as you think.

It does not have to be super conservative, some of the people are my age, while others are in their 40s and upwards.

leit. That suit looks olive on my monitor - but I'll accept its navy. I like very much the slightly swelled edges on the lapels. Seems to fit more than well enough. For real life. Doesn't fit all that bad for wearing on the internet even.

For me I always feel a bit dandy in a pink striped shirts. I have a lot of them. So I'd steer clear if you aren't a regular suit and tie wearer. I think the pink button down looks fine but I have seen many instances - on forums - of pink shirts in USA provoking deep primal emotions in other men. Doesn't happen in other countries but seems to be a real phenomena in USA. So perhaps steer clear.

If you have time see if you can get a nice pain pale blue semi spread shirt - not cutaway - to wear. Button cuffs.

Ideally I'd put you in a nice navy knit tie. But that brown? one on the right above is probably your best option.

The split toe shoes will look great. But to be honest any of those shoe swill go OK and be better than what your frenemies are wearing.

If you are not a relaxed frequent suit and tie wearing guy then stay simple basic and conservative. Your first few times is not the time to try doing The Advanced Class moves you see on the internet.

Again if you don't do it much - dress up in the COMPLETE outfit (ties, shirt, socks, belt watch etc) at least once and go out for a coffee or something for an hour or two and walk around so that you are comfortable in the outfit well prior to the big occasion. Nothing worse than looking like its your first time in a suit and tie.

Good luck.

try the new blue striped shirt with the brown striped tie. it might work. not a fan of the other two ties although the stripe is better than the paisley. try to avoid contrasting button holes on your next suit. shoes are nice

arent there any better ties in the stained tiebox?

try to get an interesting solid navy tie (maybe some sort of grenadine).
would make the blue/white shirt and the pink/white shirt a winner

Agree with what everyone else said. Your next two purchases should be a solid or very simple navy or blue tie and a light blue shirt. Gernadine would be ideal for tie.

Thank you! I did try the pink, i dont have a problem with the color itself, but found it harder to match. Shoes i dont worry much because im well set, just need a pair of black shoes that i will eventually get.

Those were the nicest from the lot, there was a dark lavender or purple that perhaps can be tries, i will give it a shot and see with that one. The suit was a good offer at the time, could have gone for something better for little more money, but since i never wear one i didnt deam it neccessary.

That tie is fine. Conservative but not common. I'd wear it myself. (no higher praise possible). But you need to go plain shirt - this time - either white or pale cornflower blue . Not cutaway - semi spread only.

Understood and thank you for the feedback. Will look for that.

i don't hate it. i actually prefer it with pink stripe shirt than the plain shirt that is suggested. verry british. my biggest problem, is that the lapels on that suit seem way too small for any normal sized tie. if bigger lapels (and perhaps a vest to cover up most of it) i would leave shirt and tie as is. for some reason skinny ties with big lapels don't bother me as much as skinny lapels with big tie.

agree that the tie works best with the pink stripe. STILL THE TIE IS AWFUL

no problem. just applying my limited suit science on what we have to work with now

I really should have gotten a hickey freeman back then, MTO for 400 dollars, then again i wasnt expectingf this kind of stuff happening. For the time being and what i can afford im looking at some luigi borrelli, finamore, and benjamin which seems to be the best deal. Style latino or whatever looks nice, but price is very steep IMO.

Check for Stile Latino on eBay, lots of nice 38 suits for relatively cheap.
