Disagreeable Menswear Post Of The Day

wtf happened to the back of that jacket??

Leaving the idoneity of both model and garment aside, has anyone had any experience with this Die Workwear "summer tweed"? I'm curious about it. I've seen some pictures in SF (I believe Spier and McKay had a RTW/MTM offering?), and it does in principle look interesting.

It's a good concept, and I've had the opportunity to see a makeup of it IRL. It adds texture to spring summer weight SCs which are usually on the plain side. I never got it because I felt there were so many other fabrics that I would want to get first before this.

Why has he bought something that he doesn't know how to wear...?
He gets fixated on “objects” as far as I can tell. But the thing about guayaberas is that they’re extremely easy to wear. Not sure if he’s ignorant of the matter. Perhaps he considers himself such an arbiter of taste and style that he wants to reinvent them.

What are they typically made from, Linen?

but its not, its 3. I didnt ask for it, but its a 3 button rolled to 2.5, with only a part of the third button hole showing. Honestly could care less.
I don’t see any roll at all And it’s certainly not 2.5. Getting the third button and buttonhole was pointless as it’s barely visible. Like the fella said, looks like a 2. At least you didn’t get the back pleat and half belt!

Well you can call it what you want. All 3 roll 2 look like 2 button coats. The button hole in this case is not flat on the lapels like an old brooks brothers coat. It is literally in the roll of the lapel, sometimes a bit more visible sometimes less. This is how the tailor does it. It is not something that has ever concerned me. It is his default for all jackets. Unlike a brooks coat were it is purely for decoration, the third button is completely functional.

Honestly this entire discussion is somewhat asinine. Have you ever worn tailored clothes before? After a couple of years perhaps a jacket needs to be repressed, and perhaps it hasn’t been. Or perhaps the person pressing it didn’t do a perfect job. The jacket very well could have been a 3 roll 2.5 that continued to roll over time (the cloth is very light after all). Perhaps i took a little weight and the lapels are being pulled on way or another. Who knows, who cares. I like the shoulders, the drape in the chest, the waist, Buttoning point, and the length of the coat. The lapels and notch are somewhat a regional style, which doesnt bother me but i could see it not be something others would want, and only a person way more adventurous than me would try to get an 70/80 something year old tailor to change that.

i think the combination without the tie looks much better, but even though i’ve worn the jacket many times, with many different shirts and ties, i only have those two pictures. Perhaps in another picture at another time at another angle things would look slightly different.

As you are a supreme keyboard jockey (even poop man 4F Hepcat/Buckley/Pimpernel every now and then posts a monstrous picture of his clothes ), I guess i shouldn’t expect much. I clearly picture you sitting in your hovel in your underwear in front of the screen typing out those boring one liners you are known for.

Anyway i posted it in the disagreeable thread, so at least you can he happy about that.

Fuck me that touched a nerve eh?

“... in front of the screen typing out those boring one liners you are known for.“

I’m absolutely flabbergasted that anyone on the internet thinks I’m “known for” anything at all!

Not at all. I had simply never heard this criticism concerning the exact location of the third button hole on the lapel. I wrote my thoughts on it and I ultimately decided the whole subject was asinine. I was foolish to have considered your comment at all.

Is it really hard to believe that after your 590 or so messages on this message board, none of which contain any substance, are written in pretty much the same style and are defined by their feeble attempts of humor, that you might be remembered or at least recognized for them by the people who frequent this message board?

My comment asking whether it was a 2 button jacket was not a critic by any means but a genuine question because to me eyes it looked like a 2 button jacket while I doubt you would ever order something not in the house style from Iorio. My jackets at least have a higher roll, which I also prefer.

Personally, I like more a 3 button roll high or whatever they are called.

To be clear my post was not directed to you.
