Oh it is non alcoholic.

I remember at my old company the German embassy would extend invitations to ex pats in German firms to watch the games. Only ex pats. No natives.

I thought it was a foregone conclusion when Japan had no shots on target and it was getting into the final quarter of the game. Now they're up by a goal.

I keep thinking Jordi Alba is old but maybe because he started so young.

Was at the airport today for most of the 14h game: Not a single TV with football, certainly no big screens set up, no one watching on tablet/phone, just nothing. Have never seen anything like this.

I'm sitting in a food court watching it. Must have passed by a few bars including a jazz bar advertising Belgium vs Canada and Spain vs Costa Rica.

I was at the grocery store today at around 12:30. I am walking down an aisle and a worker is stocking something and he had his phone propped up on a shelf watching. I stopped. It was the Spain game and the score was 7-0 so I basically kept walking.

Will be interesting to see the outcome of this. Added to a potential sale price of 5 billion pounds you're looking at a necessary investment of another 2 to 3 billion pounds to wipe out the debt, build a new stadium and of course more transfers. A total sum of over 7 billion is a lot, no matter who the potential buyer might be. The fans seem to favour Jim Ratcliffe/Ineos but they won't invest what is needed to compete with the oil clubs and their running of Nice has been a bit of a disaster. Chelsea went to a consortium so that might be an option or they will end of in the hands of another oil state.

I shamelessly knew we would lose to Belgium, but my mates tried to convince me otherwise. Now we'll see if Croatia will use the same strategy and wait for the Canadians to tire themselves out without any finishing.

Canada should have scored on the penalty. The first goal should have been stopped. They did not embarrass themselves against world #2. Let's see how they do against #12.

Canada were actually the better team. Just inexperienced. Belgium were bad.

Actually the only game of the World Cup I have watched in its entirety so far.

"The last option is what the government of Ghana and the country's football association (GFA) decided to do just one month before the tournament in Qatar.

Two national days of prayer and fasting were announced in the country.

Whether it can help the Black Stars squad remains to be seen, with Ghana the lowest-ranked of the 32 teams in Qatar at 61st in the world."

If this works against Ronaldo and Portugal I foresee lots of prayers and fasting for the rest of the tournament.

My Persian friends woke up at 5 to watch it. I left the gym when it was nil nil and then suddenly it's 2 for Iran. Reckon that's it for Wales.

What happened to all of England's pace?

I have to say I wasn't surprised at all. This is what happens after journos start talking up England.

“Look man, I don’t know why I need to be the one reminding you, but, you’re an American. You work for the U.S. Embassy. You cannot be rooting for England,” an unnamed man tells him. “I’m gonna need you to take those decorations down. Take that shirt off. And I don’t want to have to call you up here again.”

What happened to free speech? These rules are going to be next to impossible to enforce in an immigrant country mine.

yes, it was a cute spoof.

I thought Japan was the top Asia Pacific team. They just lost to Costa Rica.

Dries Mertens is coming on. Belgium really are getting old.

Moroccans do viking claps.

Belgium sending on Lukaku. What a crocked squad. Eden hazard only plays 60'. Lukaku only fit for super subs

i'm watching match highlights and my god this canadian goalie looks like he's taken too many xanax. what a bum.

And we're eliminated like Qatar.

To be honest I had very low expectations for the side. Just making it was a feat and I thought picking up a point against a higher ranked Morocco was the only realistic result. Now that I saw Morocco pot 2 against Belgium I don't have much hope for that. Some of the Canadian players are looking for their next contract and club so hopefully the three fixtures will help showcase their worth to overseas clubs.
