Adventures in Bespoke Tailoring

Lol. I'm having my doubts, as it's not the actual cutter that visits, but another tailor from Sweden who measures for them. About a year and a half ago we were looking to fly the guys from Korea over to London, and suits were priced at £1200. Now they're £2000, which I think makes them less competitive. Probably could fly to Naples/hotel/suit for £2k all in, right?

compare the value proposition! you get to stay in casa rubinacci with SOLARIUM AND BUTLER

If it really is €4200 for two suits + 6 nights that's not a bad deal, cheaper than their London pricing. But who wants to spend 6 nights in Naples? I'd rather stay in my own casa.

Ah, not so good value. Maybe Scherensammler Scherensammler should start a tailor casa in Scotland? Houses are cheap enough!

For 3500.00 GBP I can set you up in a nice little B&B nearby, no extra charge, might even get you one of the local heffers to play with.
What I cannot offer, however, is being analiced by Luca in the middle of the night. There lies the real value.

Don't forget Mario!

The phrase "he is too old to hold the scissors" was repeated 400 times during our naples trip

Sounds like a lovely time was had by all! Very top trip! Next time a trip report from casa rubinacci?

Fittings today. Stayed in the District last night and had a guys night out (aka cheeseburgers and copious amounts of whiskey), made for a nice break from reality.

If they're charging £2000, I'd suggest avoiding it as that's an insane mark up on what you'd pay if you were to visit them in Seoul. Over a 100% mark up.

Also, I'd definitely want to see the head cutter. Except for liking a strong taper on the trousers, he'd at least make sure you were getting your moneys worth. He's a classy guy and wouldn't allow anything to go out that he wasn't satisfied with.

However, with an overseas operation without direct involvement, it'd be easy to half-arse it. It comes down to that face saving thing. If there's direct accountability, then they'll be real sticklers for details. If someone else can be blamed and there's no risk of losing face, well I'd worry about them thinking "fuck it" and you've overpaid for something that they themselves would consider sub-standard anyway.

I'm nearing the magic Foo number of commissions with them and am pretty satisfied with the product. Take what I say with a grain of salt, but if you want to know more just let me know and I'd be happy to answer any questions.

Thanks, agree completely and decided not to do it because of those reasons.
