That was the age my grandfather died. It's a good innings as they use to say, especially if you keep your mental health as he did. Looking at the baby boomers in my family, I think 88 might be pushing it. I was betting on my genetics to get me to near a hundred, now I'm reassessing all of that.

But they did go in for that oversize grille on a Bentley aesthetic for way too long.

They've pretty much redeemed themselves. Shame I'm not in their horology league at present.

Like lots of the quality Swiss manufacturers they've produced some great/iconic watches. Zenith are another one, and equally lost their way.

Walked by a local jeweller today and they seem to have added Zenith to their selection. There were quite a few of the new models on dispaly and they seem to have reinvented themselves as Royal Oak plagiarists. Not really sure what to make of them and their slight Eastern block aesthetic with the large stars. Makes me wonder if they will be considered by the Rolex/AP steel rejects crowd.

I really liked that one. Not that I would buy it but it has a cool vintage vibe. Already available with considerable discounts.

I like a few but would only buy 1....MAYBE 2...for myself. I am not a flipper so I would not think about that. But I would hold on to one NIB just to see what the market dictates.

I am gonna try to hit up all 5 stores tomorrow. Rain and shitty weather is expected....but that probably won't keep the fiends away.
