Ask A Quick Question

Thanks guys. Yeh, I’m pretty sure I’ll ditch the jacket and tie when I realize I’m better dressed than the groom, but safer to start out with it all.

To be fair, dressy semi-formal is quite a wide target to hit. Do they want dressy, or semi-formal, or something in-between?

Never met him, but I hear the groom is an electrician who spends his weekends snorting coke at strip clubs. Looking through their social media and engagement pics, I’m pretty sure he doesn’t even have a suit to wear to court dates. The bribe is kinda hippy and some of her fam probably have suits at the back of the closet

Peter Zolto getting married? You’ve done well to score an invite!

Never waste an opportunity to wear a suit - and/or be the best dressed in the room!

I'd guess when these sort of people say semi- formal or dressed up all they mean is no grubby band t shirt with shorts. Otherwise open slather.

The bride asked me where to green buy a linen suit for him - he’s going to wear that with an open shirt. That definitely helps me not look overdressed but still wear it better, hahah

Please encourage her to demand real shoes and not clean white trainers for the day. I'm not opposed to sneakers with casual tailoring, but on a day like this he should really be wearing an adult pair of shoes.

What if they are going to a picnic directly from church?

Do you think our Lord and savior Jesus Christ had a dress code?

You are living in the USA Frenchie, we go to church to pray and atone for our sins, not to show the congregation a 3/2 roll.

I am a traditionalist. I wear a Roman toga and sandals to church. Fuck your modernism.

I guess a new (de)generation of histrionics, not the same as 20 years ago, right?

what´s the hype there now? What kind of crap?

I am curious, but I bid rice three delices, delivering
No, they have found other hobbies. Those who frequent now, thankfully seem less obsessive.

I only look at a few threads, so don't have my finger on the pulse. Could be that the otakus have moved to IG, to get that instant validation.

When buying a suit do the menswear shops usually leave you try on the dress shirts? are they are usually in packs right, like in my attachement?

If you wear your own dress shirt when you go shopping to try on suits then you’ll never have to be concerned about such things.
This works for footwear also.

I don't have a dress shirt
do you have a shirt with a collar and full button front that isn't a dress shirt? Sport shirt, casual shirt? Depending on the shop, they may or may not give you a shirt for the fitting. Or tell them you are looking for a dress shirt and suit. Great White Snark Great White Snark is right, bring the shoes you will wear with the suit. Do you have dress shoes?
