Johnson isn't up to it, I'm afraid. I had my doubts before, but he is being found out. Nearly dying with the 'rona and the unprecedented problems caused by a global pandemic haven't helped to be fair and would have taxed a far more able man that BoJo.

This is probably why he stuck with Cummings when most PM's would not have hesitated to get rid.

Johnson certainly cannot talk convincingly off the cuff. This was a worry during the prime ministerial contest.

It has since become absolutely undeniable. Gove and Rees-Mogg, whatever you think of them, are clear and assured when answering questions. Johnson has got away with a bumbling, hail-fellow-well-met image and the belief that he is popular with voters. He can write to order, but he is not quick on his feet.

The mayor of Amsterdam had a no confident vote for declaring Amsterdam an open city for those protesting BLM. She survived the vote but not without damage as the council chamber members complained whilst they couldn't quite get the evidence, she came across as a lying deceitful twister - and few believed she had not endorsed tens of thousands not socially distancing coming into Amsterdam to fuck trump and spread the virus. The look on her face sad it all - sly and guilty, almost like a kid with a smirk.
