I think you mean, if you were a WHITE American. Because for every else, it is a very public reminder that the powers that be still idolise the leaders in a war to defend slavery. Fuck that!
Nobody who sees the statues and civil war figures as part of their heritage has any interest in defending slavery. Southern identity is about more than that. The war was about more than that. The statues could have remained if not for leftist agitators, many of whom with roots not even reaching back as far as the civil war.

Although, in Britain at least, the attacks by the rioters upon our statues and monuments (one Antifa scumbag urinated on Churchill and the cenotaph was defaced) is helping to turn ordinary Brits against the whole thing, which is a plus.

Well, Colston didn't get his statue for being a slaver either, he got his for public works in the city of his birth. So, does he deserves dome cred for that?

Again, where do you draw the line?
Personally, I’d leave the Colson statue and make sure kids got the full story.

You’ve got to be kidding. Leftist agitators? 55% of the population here in the south is black and they fucking hate those statues.

This is only the opening salvo. They're testing the waters, all statues to the past of those who don't measure up to the strict moral code of 2020 will have to go. The mob and our cultural revolutionaries cannot see that civilization developed incrementally and great men of the past can have no redeeming features, no qualities of worth if they don't meet with their limited syntax and virtue signalling. Their moral code and heightened sense of racialism trumps everything even science, beating the Nazis in WWII because we fought it for the wrong reasons, etc, etc....

You can see they're itching and a scratching to take down the Churchill monument. After that, everything will be permitted. Next: the museums to repatriate the artifacts. Gulags are on the horizon.

Good to see one American city abolishing the bastard cops and replacing them with what the ''community leaders'' want and some holistic public Health & Safety entity. The gangs and cartels haven't decided exactly what this organisation will look like, so the Minneapolis City Council are waiting for their next instructions.

The Antifa-kind will find themselves like the communist party in immediate post-revolution Iran, suddenly not invited to the banquet despite all the ground work and proverbially swinging by their necks from cranes. They're certainly not going to survive long as the replacement police.

Edit - cowered police forces and activist media:

Fundamentally it is about attacking 'whiteness', which means white people. Make no mistake about it, it is a resentful attack on our civilisation which won't stop at statues. In fact, it already has targeted actual people. People might not like to hear this, but it is clear for all to see.

Defunding/disbanding the police is absurd. All of the productive people will end up leaving and all that remains will be Mogadishu.

I think he's referring to the quality of the picture, it looks almost staged. It looks like something you would see in a painting.

Its a fantastic shot...
I think he really meant it literaly. These cop bootlickers love to see the cops as military.

These police are far from a effective military fighting force:

As a tactical retreat, there's no line of defense, it's a rout. They're bobbies on the beat, not paramilitaries, not trained in riot tactics or coping when confronted by the tribal gangs of modern London.

you are absolutely clueless as to the realities of life as the underclass in america.
To be fair. Policing is so different in America to any other country, most people outside don’t get it. Not to say it is always better elsewhere.

Here you have city, school, county, state, highway, parks, railway and a million other police departments and that’s not even counting the feds. We throw vast sums of money into policy and the only metric most people use is how many people in uniform, not crimes solved and prosecuted or anything else.

As I’ve said, a part of my job involves working with some of the better (counter terror) fed LEOs. But even they will tell you that the whole system is an inefficient joke. If you privatised all police in the US and hired a decent CEO they would gut everything and start near scratch.

Or we could reduce the budget and spend the money on root cause mitigation strategies, halve the force to cut out the cancer of bad cops and actually give the good cops some meaningful metrics to keep everyone and everything safer.

I came across footage of this gentleman, Frank Rizzo, who was a police chief and former mayor. This was the way things used to be in the old days.

It’s strangely reassuring - but I cannot imagine Cressida Dick acting like this. However I cannot imagine her getting harassed by the media in this fashion either.

True, but a little misleading in that most PDs give preference to candidates with at least a two year associate degree (preferably in criminal justice).

Sir Robert Peel, the English gent, who founded the Met, professional and ethical policing by consent has his statues and monuments targeted by Topple the Racists. His nine principles of policing are valid today, and yet, these maggots want to destroy his legacy:

I wonder what our armchair revolutionaries and would be cop killers have to say about his nine principles of policing?

Edit: I know a lot the same crowd above were boasting about how they could take a hit if their car, place of work or even home got looted, burned or destroyed by the rioters because it was a just cause and well worth the sacrifice as insurances would cover their loss. Uptown in your penthouse that may will give you a warm gooey feeling and I respect that. Actually I don't, I think it's crass preening peacock suit virtue signalling.

Down at street level, reality bites. The sound link in this is well worth listening to, the Chicago Mayor's leaked conference call with the council representatives of the city, you can sense the crushing of opportunity with the loss of critical shops, pharmacies and the realization that the communities have been destroyed by a mixture of low life scum and outside agitators:

But I guess for our armchair revolutionaries and cop haters, these local businesses were merely the uppity petite bourgeoisie who needed to be brought down a peg or two for the sanctity of the coming revolution, wot?

Nice profanity-free insults too.

‘A crumb, creep, lush’ I imagine that is old school American usage.

Weird.

The New Black Panther Party have been active the past few weeks peacefully protesting and providing armed security. As has NAAAGA (which is open to everyone - I just joined).

pretty sure she isn’t an actor. Extra props for carrying a loaded mag in the pocket and the firearm visibility unloaded, rather than these militia posers parading around with empty mags inserted.

Are you promoting this as the new community solution to replace the police?

Armed citizenry has always been the front line in crime deterrence here. As the old saying goes: when seconds count, the police are just minutes away.

This is reasonable in its tone. It is not a loud defund the police rant. It is not a discussion of conspiracy theories and political motivations. No violence in response to violence. Would have been nice to hear both equality and equity because people are generally clueless and use the two synonymously. Affirmative action is an equity measure and are products of systemic racism. Compensating for some people more than others because there is no equality. Because until (if) systemic racism is dismantled there is no equality. All men are created equal then depending on who you are it can all go to shit. They use COVID to engender the idea of a pandemic of systemic racism, and the need for different levels of responses based on the acuteness of the situation.

Dropbear Dropbear and fxh fxh know how equity, equality, and universality all play out in terms of public health, and often it has to do with skin colour though it shouldn't. That level of education of everyone should happen so informed conversations can happen.

What, the video or what I wrote? If the video, it is slick and could be seen that way but it gets to closer to the root of what people should be talking about instead of the politics and the yelling over one another. If it is me I am happy to debate it.
