Nobody who sees the statues and civil war figures as part of their heritage has any interest in defending slavery. Southern identity is about more than that. The war was about more than that. The statues could have remained if not for leftist agitators, many of whom with roots not even reaching back as far as the civil war.I think you mean, if you were a WHITE American. Because for every else, it is a very public reminder that the powers that be still idolise the leaders in a war to defend slavery. Fuck that!
Although, in Britain at least, the attacks by the rioters upon our statues and monuments (one Antifa scumbag urinated on Churchill and the cenotaph was defaced) is helping to turn ordinary Brits against the whole thing, which is a plus.
