Was there over cautiousness because of rigid procedures and rules of engagement? One would have expected one of the cops to act as point man and just gone in which would have encouraged the others to follow.

I read that one off-duty cop/border guard who was barbers got a shot gun off the barber and just went in and rescued a load of kids, including his own. So someone was up for doing the right thing.

It is behind a pay wall but didn’t the chief guy say he got a ring of keys and prayed as he was trying each one.
He may have been praying one of the keys would fit the lock …. While cowering around the corner while kids were dying .

45K isn't very enticing. Maybe you'll get better weapons, body armour and same pay in Ukraine.
