So much wasted money...

Oh wait, did he pay this time?

Do many people really buy his stuff? He can always invent a few posts for his blog but real sales is the question.

As the jacket is not worth a quarter of the asking price he may not need a big turnover.

Maybe the game now is directing a small number of well-heeled mugs towards over-priced stuff and taking a percentage?

He says Escorial wool is not cheap...even if you consider 300$ ony in cloth, the jacket is 2000$, no way Caruso or Belvest charge them more than say 300$ for the manufacture. I estimate a mark-up of x4.

Jacket in it's full beauty:

I'd say the market for men with such milk bottle shoulders is pretty small...

For someone who has positioned himself as some kind of unparalleled style expert the state of his jacket choices is rancid.
The whole purpose of spending large amounts on clothing is surely to make you look good. In particular bespoke commissions are supposed to hide flaws and emphasize assets. I realise this is RTW but look at the state of those shoulders for fucksake. The name of his site is ‘Permanent’ Style. Just because the current trend is for Napoli style unstructured shoulders, shouldn’t an advocate of ‘permanent style’ eschew the trend of the day in favor of what looks good objectively?

I bet it's even machine padded.

I'm guessing he got it tailored for lower shoulders?

Or with black fussing like burning tyres on streets on Naples.

For someone who has positioned himself as some kind of unparalleled style expert the state of his jacket choices is rancid.

It's probably a matter of "follow the money"! Is there any decent manufacturer left that does a fully canvassed jacket with built-up shoulders? Particularly one that can pay whatever Crompton is asking for his marketing.

It's elite, the black fussing. All those snobs have pushed full canvas out of fashion.

I love you, and I want to have your babies.

But, to business. Crompton is now well into his supply-teacher-at-polytechnic aesthetic. Way to go. Brown on brown on shade of brown on beige on grey, all in woollyfuzzy fabrics sans canvas.

And while we're at it, a word on the subject of Drake's. Their ties may be great quality, and decently priced. But their jackets and outerwear are stratospherically overpriced. Now this. Crompton is forever going on about how the exorbitant prices of some of his sponsors and idols are justified by the cost of "design". If this is design, then I'm a banana.

Their ties are just as overpriced as everything else they offer

Yes, if he had some padding put in those shoulders he could look half decent, pity he doesn't learn to dress to his body type. Looking like a milk bottle is doing him no favours at all.

To add insult to injury, you can pick up NWT Belvest SCs for $500 or less on eBay.

You can get a bespoke sports jacket for less than £1500. And I mean bespoke, not made-to-measure. Selling an off-the-rack jacket for £1995 is an insult to everything Crompton claims to stand for.

I suppose we could be positive about it though. This ultimate rip-off will encourage middle-income people to seek out bespoke tailors, thus sustaining the survival of this endangered craft etc.

I mean £1995, for Christ's sake. Their other uncanvassed, unlined jackets (i.e. exact copies of the Cromptonwunderjacke bar the fabric, and the nifty patch ticket pocket) are sold for £1095.

You'd have to be seriously flawed to consider anything shilled by that slopey shouldered con artist and snake oil salesman. Yet another fine example that PPE graduates are not to be trusted.

Do you read the comments?

On rare occasions there’s some mild critique or maybe someone will balk at the price but they are immediately shouted down by all his fanbois. It’s worse than SF. Or the way this place can be if I make a negative comment about someone’s selfie just because I don’t post pics.

Does he have fans? The pop up shop photos seemed to be filled with people with something to sell.
A parallel universe filled with Pitti Uomo types.

There always seem to be people posting admiring comments. They must have no shortage of cash too, if they’re following him down the rabbit holes he digs.

Wanna kop every Craptom product. Wonder if he would accept forvm shills getting his stuff for free? It's a Craptom approved behavior. Jajajaja
