My trouser cuff is beginning to fray on one of my nicer flannel suits. Can it be reinforced or the tailor will thez just shorten the pant leg a bit more?

If its true soft flannel flannel then you should already have had a cuff guard strip on it. Naughty.Naughty

I guess its only wearing on the inside? Get the tailor to just patch up /reinforce inside without touching outside. How high water are they? - maybe a touch taken up will just let then fall with no break. Or if you have enough material you could hide it with a fake cuff.

They're not that high and that might have been the issue. I could take it up without a break. I thought the heavier materials were more durable. I do slosh around the winter in these suits but they're quite a godsend since all my overcoats end at my knee.

If it's proper flannel flannel in my experience it's soft and a bit delicate at times. Certainly on friction points. If it's Worsted flannel then it's harder wearing like a... er........ um Worsted cloth.
