Improving DressedWell.net

Just a friendly reminder to everyone that our hosting is running out next month and we're due to sign up a new site by then. Not to mention that our current host is run by illiterate monkeys. I've started to research the alternatives but we could use some more donations to fill out the coffers and make some upgrades around here. Please, those of you who have yet to chip in, help us out.

How much do you need to fix this? I'll donate if I can pick a custom title for a member of my choosing

you shouldn't give with pre-conditions. you should give because you have money to spare and want a better quality forum. not to mention we're completely fucking broke.

I never have money to spare (London is expensive!), but I'll happily pay to give arnathor or verri happy a custom title
 
Anyone have interest in this style of conversation design? Looks Facebook Messenger-esque

a few people have complained that the conversations are hard to follow. i know The Machine The Machine was the most recent. thoughts on this?
 
I do not think that it improves that much. To be able to really follow the conversation, imo it has to be an outliner design, not a inline like your test.
 
I've disabled both the media gallery and the classified section since they were completely inactive. Should there be a use for them I'll turn them back on.

ok, we i talked to the developer. he's not willing to support the short link version but he did add in the standard links. what this means is that you have to find a video you want to embed, click on the twitter link to get the code, then copy and paste that in your browser. once pasted, it'll give you the normal link to video which you can then embed:

fxh fxh wanted a way to figure out what the fuck time it was where you people live so I added in a link to a world clock. if you hover over the page it will show you big cities and their respective times.

if you do this on mobile, its defaulting to tokyo, new york, and vancouver. just delete them via the little X by their names and then pick your own. not sure how to fix that or get this into a more attractive package, but i'm working on it.

I still don't know why Vancouver is there. Los Angeles yes, maybe grudgingly Seattle but Vancouver?
 
A couple of theme updates today - the developer thinks they've got the image loading issue fixed on mobile, so we've reactivated the floating navigation bar. it will follow you up and down the page now.

the sidebar is now available as an off-canvas (opens via a button) menu. its located underneath the navigation bar at the top of the page. screenshot to follow.

i reinstalled the dark theme because they fixed it up finally. for those of you who prefer a black background, its worth a look. i'm still fixing it up and have to do something with the red color, so bear with me. its available under the style chooser as DressedWell Dark.
 
It looks like our theme dev has totally fixed the image loading issue on mobile now. The new theme has been installed for days and every thread I test it gets me to the last post without fail. I'm working with him to try to get some improvement for the mobile navigation bar. I'd like it to show new posts and a search icon, then have the rest of the menu functions in the off-canvas (behind the button on the left) menu. This way search is easy to find and all the essential browsing functions are right in front of you.

I bring this up because I asked him if there were any ways he could think of to improve the design of the site, visually as well as functionally. If you have any suggestions for us, please let me know and I'll happily pass them along to him and see if its feasible.
