I've found a way to create a sub-forum (like Clothing) where I can restrict the post in each thread to the thread starter only. I was thinking some sort of thread curation angle, but wanted to flesh that out. Thoughts?
 
Yeah, me either. I'm not opposed to it, I just don't get it yet.

Right. My first thought was something affiliate-like, but then I shot that down because the affiliates would probably want to talk to their customers. Then I was thinking about a pick of the week type thread. Obviously, that would be some sort of pipe dream, but even in that instance people would still want to comment. Just bouncing things off the walls of my empty head.
 
I'm going to start working on redoing the 'getting started with the forum software' thread since its a bit out of date. Any topics that you think I should include? Will have screen shots and arrows and such, provided I have the time to get them done.

Edit: Fucking christ, I had no idea how outdated it was. There's links to wdwv in there! Ugh, time to get to work.

There's a new option available to give users the ability to self-moderate threads. Sort of like what the Dubiously Hosebags on SF can do. Delete posts, edit them, etc.

Any interest in this?
 
W walker seems to have a desire to exclude and redact content. There is a legitimate need for bumping people back on topic, but the potential for lulzy abuse worries me a bit.

Got the promotion a few weeks ago.

Though all the DH threads are dead, pretty much, except the Good Natured Advice Thread. And there is zero need for a DH there as everyone is so damned reasonable and helpful. Plus it was designed to get off track. Same with the Composite thread, I guess. Don't know. Nobody really gets in anyone's face any more, so there hardly ever seems to be a need to clean up threads (though there was when a girl started posting a few months ago).

I added 'Men's' to the title line of the forum. I thought it might make the whole thing a bit clearer. Thoughts?
