Never knew about the Jewish chicken torture, doesn't sound any different from how they're raised in factories though.

There was a similar flap about the public ritual sacrifice of chickens by certain Jews in the Pico-Robertson area of Los Angeles a couple of years ago. Should the Temple in Jerusalem ever be rebuilt, there will a substantial faction of Torah-true Jews who will want to engage in blood sacrifices of all sorts of animals at the Temple, to the great embarrassment of all the nice, civilized element among rabbis and other observant Jews throughout the world, I'm sure.

Lest I be accused of singling out the Jews, we Christians do have our snake handlers and many other bizarre deviations as well. I, for one, would far rather sacrifice a chicken than drape myself with rattlesnakes!

You got a contact for the underwear less cult? A recruitment pamphlet? Thanks

Serious question - is this thread for all "insane religious shit", or is it really "insane religious shit in the West", or is it really "non-Islamic insane religious shit"? I worry if we include Muslims, especially those in the Middle East, that this will essentially become another ISIS thread.

Its whatever you want to make it. If you feel like talking muslim shit, then talk muslim shit. I personally could care less.

Are you inferring I may have an anti-Muslim bias? Anyway, irregardless of your post and your misnomer of my views, I'm going to restrict this to just Western stuff so it doesn't turn a literal shitshow.

I'm praying to the God that, upon request, damns my car keys to a fiery hell whenever I drop them.

I hate modern journalism. While I don't doubt a couple of hundred Christians are butthurt about this, you can find any opinion in the world on the internet and then craft an article around it. "Obama Administration Denies Links to NAMBLA" could actually be a headline someday because you know that someone on the internet believes that Obama is a member of NAMBLA. "Mormons Concerned Over Anti-Slavery Laws" because you know there's a Mormon somewhere that believes that.

Then we can post an article, jerk off to the "us v. them" fight it sets up, and become further divided.

Of course I'm currently dealing with two employees who believe a "Thanksgiving Party", (which I was going to pick up the tab for) sounds too religious and they want to change the name to "Harvest Celebration". With a straight face I told them I wouldn't pay for a "Harvest Celebration" as I thought it glorified agrarian feudalism (was careful not to say the "s" word") and elitism. I eagerly await the decision of the party planning committee.

Are the feminists still against porn, or did they convince themselves that they were willingly empowering themselves when sexually exploited for money?

this has to do with mormons you crazy prick.

Feminism is a religion too. I can't keep track on where these religions agree and disagree.

The gay cake bullies have finally gone too far and gone after their own.

I'm tempted to delete this because its just that stupid, but I'm going to go against my better nature and ask why you thought this was worthy of the insane religious shit? this gay pastor bought a cake from wholefoods, that had a clear window in it showing the supposed slur, and yet walked out of the store with it? and then, as opposed to taking it back to the store immediately, he decided to launch a lawsuit? you can't possibly be this naive, can you?

In the upcoming or current issue of Time, there is an article on Putin and his pilgrimage to Mount Athos.

"'He is the model of an Orthodox leader,' says Father Nektarios, an elder monk on Mount Athos from the Greek monastery of Karakallou. In many ways, he told me, Putin's fate is similar to that of St. Constantine the Great, the first Roman emperor to convert to Christianity in the 4th century. 'Putin comes from a pagan nation that persecuted Christians,' says Father Nektarios, referring to the Soviet Union."

What!? Comparing Vladimir Putin to Constantine? Constantine ruled over an empire that Putin could only dream of.

"...Putin had taken 'the throne where only Byzantine emperors sat in the past.' In fact, that gilded stall may not have been reserved exclusively for the head of empires; senior bishops have been allowed to occupy it in the past. But it looked regal enough for Putin to hesitate as he approached it, as though unsure whether he was worthy. The monks assured him that he was."

A narcissist surrounded by sycophants.

I have often likened Putin to St. Constantine the Great. One priestly friend of mine likened him to St. Alexander Nevsky.

There have been times when I have been tempted to join the Orthodox Church.

Actually, I think you could fit Constantine's empire inside Putin's Russia and have a great deal of room to spare--of course a lot of Russia is tundra, taiga and desert, so it's not really fair comparison.
