Your cynicism is completely unwarranted. You think John Kerry (the guy that couldn't convince people to pick him over George Bush) will screw this up? That guy's got presence, man. Presence.
And ketchup.

Hey, Kerry did bumble us out of that Iran standoff about a year ago. Perhaps similar comic mishaps will happen again?
Oops, I was thinking Syria. My bad.
1700 People died last week in Syria from the ongoing violence there. Kerry did a good job of letting us diplomatically say "this is Muslim v. Muslim violence, who gives a shit?" and turn our back on the whole thing (the parallels to black v. black crime in America are pretty sad).
It's possibly he was brilliantly bluffing and offering an out, but it sure looked like embarrassing serendipity.
BTW, I oppose the US being an international buttinsky, which is why I'm not so fond of our involvement with Israel.
Why?Israel is still offensive.
Why?
This article gives a lovely beginner's history to the odious roots of the Zionist nation.

It also shows how idiotic and myopic the twits like Joan Rivers are when they spout the "they started it" line.
If I understand this right, the Ottoman Turks. So who was there before the Palestinians?
The media bias one is interesting because it triggers all these groups to go up in arms about antisemitism, so there's that. We don't fund their military exactly, we create social welfare for ourselves because the 'aid' must be spent on American military equipment, so there's that too.
I'm with the media bias camp... it gets so much attention because of the Jewish influence working/running the media today. These people have been at each others throats for 50 years... that story would get boring with a typical news cycle.
See the documentary The Gatekeepers. It's an interview with 6 former heads of Shin Bet, the Israeli CIA. All 6 say this is over the top and needs to come to an end. A close Jewish friend says its the ultra-conservative elements of the population that won't let the issue get settled, and she feels that Jews, after what happened to them, are oppressing the Palestinians and should be the last people on Earth to do it. I happen to agree with the heads of Shin Bet and her. I don't really care about human shields or whose right anymore, just give those people some land and put this tiresome bullshit to an end.

I have sometimes thought that the wisest thing the Israelis might have done after their victory in the Six-Day War would have been to return the Gaza Strip to Egypt (to help keep Israel more Jewish) and simply to have annexed the West Bank in its entirety, BUT with full civil equality and citizen rights for its Arab and other residents.
If Israel evacuated to the moon the UN would still find a way to blame it.
Over 300 Survivors and Descendants of Survivors of Victims of the Nazi Genocide Condemn Israel’s Assault on Gaza
313 Jewish survivors and descendants of survivors and victims of the Nazi genocide have signed this letter written in response to Elie Wiesel’s manipulation of the Nazi Genocide to attempt to justify the attacks on Gaza.
Last I heard, nobody broke the one that started on Tuesday yet. How's that cease fire going?
They're completely surrounded by people that want to kill them all. What is the problem of keeping it where it is?
Maybe, which side of germany would it have been on though?
Yeah, but would they not find some other reason to call jihad and spread across the world? It's not like the west would've stayed out of the oil lands.
First, as much as I despise Israel, I spell it properly.Palestinians are not terrorists because of where they operate or their tactics - more so because they indiscriminately bomb civilian and military targets alike, kidnap isrealli citizens...
No, they'd be killed by corrupt brutal regimes like Saddam had in Iraq. Taking him out was a disaster of a mistake. He could have stayed there killing extremists for another twenty or thirty years and was never a threat to us.
