He was right about SVB though. I'm a big fan of 70s styling, but there is good 70s and bad 70s, and that fit was on the bad side of that era. It also makes him look like an alien with weird proportions. That might've been his goal though, but I doubt it.

Pathetic.
Don't get me wrong, the people that I have met and gotten to know (some) on gnat are great people.
It is the people that I have never seen before that have come at me out of nowhere only to throw random insults at me, like DWW aka DipaerWearer.
Maybe it was just gnat, but people were too careful not to say anything wrong.
It is a weird bunch, especially the admins.

I think that's just how forums are. They often focus on particular interests, so you get lots of obsessives going overboard about trivialities. Like the old Sayre thing - "Why are academic arguments so bitter?" "Because the stakes are so low". So one small detail is an 'abomination' or a 'crime'. It's funny when people do it in a tongue in cheek way, and I do that myself, but there are plenty of people who take it seriously. People will get into screaming rows over a 1/4 inch of cuff for Heaven's sake. But without those people forums would be dull.

Plus you've got the anonymity of the internet, people grandstanding to impress others, trolls stirring things up for laughs, people rimjobbing the admins, people rimjobing the "legendary" posters, and all the rest. Hence ridiculous insults and general weirdness. If the aliens' first contact with earth is stumbling upon the average internet forum, they'll say "Fuck it. That planet is just too damn crazy" and try the next galaxy along.

You just have to approach it in the right spirit - the banter and the in-jokes can be pretty good, the insults are harmless at worst and entertaining at best, and you might even learn the odd thing of value here and there.
 
Oh, and DiaperWearer is fine as far as it goes, but it leaves out the last 'W'. How about 'DiaperWearingWanker'?

One might consider it pathetic that a grown man need the approval of other, anonymous grown men to decide which tie he wear to work that day. Or that a grown man have a "picnic attack" when a an item of clothing doesn't meet their internet friend standards. I know I do.

Caustic Man then tried to start his own Noodles thread in SW&D which, despite my early efforts to shoot it down or redirect it to something more useful, appears to have gained some momentum...
 
also for anyone paying attention, noodles posted the "edit" link to his Formosa B&S listing so if you think his price is unreasonable, you can just change it, not that I endorse any such activity...
