In the red tub? I have some. I've found it very tricky to get enough cushion with the lather. I chalk it up to the extremely hard water.
 
If you can find the Prep soap (Italian) I think it's better than the Proraso.

Try Trumpers Coconut cream, has actual coconut oil in it, very slick.
 
Any DE razor recommendations? I think my Edwin Jagger DE89 is coming to the end of its life. The head keeps coming loose when I'm shaving and its starting to get on my nerves.
 
I'm a vintage Gillette Superspeed devotee. Affordable and effective.

BST on Badger & Blade is always good. I have several, from 1950's through 70's. Mostly just the regular model, though the one I use regularly is the red tip, which is slightly heavier.

If you want to try one I have a '76 that is mint, possibly unused. I've never used it anyway. It's not as solid as the old ones but will give you a good idea whether you like the style or not.
 
Keep getting razor burn on the right side of my neck, it is really pissing me off. I use a badger brush, glycerin soap and DE safety razor.

shit moves too quickly on there. and they've got some goofy ass new classifieds system going.

I did hunt a bit on eBay and there seem to be quite a few 1950's models. I'll have to find a few good auctions to post up here for comparison.

I appreciate the offer of the razor and will keep it in mind.

Soap usually gets changed around, usually I just use proraso. Next time I shave, I'll go with the grain on my neck, odds are I aggravated the skin by shaving against the grain.
 
Here's what I'm curious about, does anyone use an astringent like witch hazel? If so, do you find it helps with things like razor burn? I'm thinking of buying that and pure aloe vera to use right after shaving.

I am interested on this. I usually cut myself specially with a new blade. I can't believe that after more than 2 years using a safety razor blade I still put pressure when shaving
Is Aloe Vera astringent?
 
Pussies: when i shave i use my grandfather's machete ( which i sharpen once every month or so) or a broken bottle - whichever i can get my hands on.

Definitely. I also have a 1950's Gillette Tech, which is pretty much what your EJ was based on.

What year is the regular model you normally use with the red tip? The most sought after model seems to be from the 40's. That and the FatBoy.

I will check when I get home. I had a couple fat boys but was not impressed. Very clunky.
 
2 parts Purified water and 1 part apple cider vinegar has worked well to combat the razor burn I had on my neck.

Hello friend, any news on your shaving.
And no, Aloe Vera is not astringent.
Use diluted Apple Cider Vinegar or Witch Hazel.
 
I have changed the razor blade and the technique. No more pressure and very long and soft strokes. I actually don't cut myself much anymore. Anyhow I am planning in changing blades. I just want to finish the Feathers I have and I will go back to Astra.
