Interested in photos - not esoteric translated typing about fuckin' tie knots or Goodyear shoes or shoulder divots on jackets. I'd be especially interested in a forum where people actually enjoy their clothes and wear them to work /play etc. Is there anywhere in the world?

not that it would matter. sometimes I get the feeling a lot of these shoes are commissioned for peacocking on a clothing fora.
its a fact that technical skills are rarely appreciated while optical features are on high esteem. this is a phenomen, which never ceases to amaze me.

A mix of oils and beeswax like other products e.g. Huberd's shoe grease, Dayton Boot Oil, Redwing's Boot oil.
They all seem to have proprietary formulae and add something a bit different or in different proportions but they are pretty much similar. Protect and nourish the leather.
Obenauf's smells like honey. Huberd's smells like a camp fire.

iGentry is focused on the superficial a lot of the time.
not really strange. of course the focus is on french and italian makers. this is in the nature of the action. actually, its an easy task to delve deeper than SF.

well, afaik know hairspray isn't producing a shiny surface. its quite the opposite, being sticky.

- 35 years of practicing
- just use common sense - its an art and not a science
- follow your heart
- consider what your shoes are asking for. they are very good in telling you ...
- are you douchey enough to use "saphir" or are you sticking with the real stuff e.g. Kiwi. nuff said.
as I mentioned in the "Vass lost its soul" - thread. Finally I had to do my first job on shell cordovan under limited conditions.
what did I do? I followed my heart and played it safe.
- cleaning with water
- brushing
- shoe cream applied with your bare hands
- brushing
- applying shoe cream with a tooth brush
- final brushing - winner
actually, I dunno what all the fuss is about taking care of shell cordovan. its simple like riding a bike and self explaining.
also, I cannot evaluate if the mac method is any good outside of the alden universe. understood that alden is laquering their shell. imo, this is a waste of material and could also be done in a sweat shop in kalkutta. certainly Horween, Chicago sounds better. anyway.

I hate that we can't get Saphir products for shoes. I'm having a hard time polishing my shoes. Will need to get some stuff ASAP.

Betel, saphir is good but it's just shoe Polish in the end. If you want a mirror shine use kiwi parade shine or whatever it's called or ordinary kiwi. Men and armies have been using it for years.

Will need to look for those Kiwi, cause in here we have a brand named "El Oso" but haven't had a really nice time with it. And the Kiwi I have seen, is only black.
