Superhero, Comic Book & Sci-Fi Cinema & News

watched the new spider man. the new guy is really really annoying as peter and there was too much tony. the action wasn't terrible and michael keaton was pretty good. overall i'd give it a C-.

i don't have any idea why they didn't go with miles morales. would have been so much more interesting.

GoTG 2 was a letdown compared to the first. Not that the movie was bad or anything. Just landed with a giant "meh" in terms of bringing anything new to the table. Lots of recycled jokes, etc.

Is that a new thing that Hulk can have conversations now?

It looks like they are slowly taking him towards one of his more intelligent versions. In the comics his intelligence has been all over the place, depending on what the writer wants to do with the character. He's even been portrayed to have intelligence on the level of Banner on occasion.

I'm a fan of the smarter Hulks, if just for the shake up to the formula they provide.

I went to see it with the family today.

Not perfect, but enjoyable. I think that it may have benefited if Warner Brothers/DC had imitated Marvel a bit more and had one or two extra "introductory" movies first, so that we got to know Aquaman, Flash, Cyborg better.

It's also a little messy because Whedon re-shot quite a bit of the movie and so there are quite a few scenes from the trailers that don't appear in the finished movie, presumably because they were discarded as a result of the re-shooting.

I enjoyed the interaction between the characters, particularly the Flash and various characters. The plot is fairly flimsy - it leaves you wondering who this Steppenwolf character is and where he comes from - but that's common with this kind of movie.

As an aside, I know that Steppenwolf is a comic character from a few decades back, but I can't help but wonder why he was named after an early-20th-century novel by Herman Hesse. I guess those comic-book writers dropped a fair bit of acid in the 1960s and 1970s...

fast forwarded through s1 of the punisher. the show was really really boring and i didn't care about any of the characters other than frank castle. i wouldn't recommend it unless you like gratuitous violence interspersed with exceptionally boring plot development.

saw the new avengers. the cgi was terrible and the ending really sucked. overall it was an ok watch.

Really? I thought that the CGI was very good. It was certainly better than the CGI in Black Panther, particularly the badly-realised fight scene between Black Panther and Killmonger around the underground train tracks.

The ending was, of course, setting things up for the next instalment.

I enjoyed it, although of course it requires a very willing suspension of disbelief. My main beef was with the attempts to kill Thanos - why didn't people just concentrate on cutting his arm/hand off, instead?

i definitely agree it was better than black panther but the big wakandan fight scene basically seemed like an excuse to have shit flying around and popping off the screen.

calling it now - the dead are all going to be brought back by tony stark.

yes that was annoying. the many worlds seemed superfluous, as did the whole thor hammer 20 minute scene. the worst part was the gamora bullshit. this humanization of thanos was pretty ridiculous to me.
