My tie collection is slowly moving towards a Chorn-approved status.

On a tie related note, I don't think I'll ever be able to get the whole animals on ties thing. It's very American, but I'm from Texas.

What jacket did you wear that with? Seems like there might be too little contrast between that shirt and tie (that shirt seems like it would be hard to wear with a tie...almost--but not quite--a French blue)

Personally, I prefer it when the members of a forum are as disinterested as possible. Take someone like Hober. Can you imagine his being objective in a discussion over whether knits or grenadines are more or less suited for this or that purpose? I can't -- and that's a problem.

I disagree, at least with him. He's a very honorable guy. So is that guy who does the custom Tricker's.

Did an inventory of my ties (in the process of moving). Leaving bachelor pad in 14 hours. In the last year, I spent between $4000-5250 on ties alone. I doubt I'll ever spend this much in a year on ties again, both because I'm married now and because there are far fewer holes to fill in my tie collection than there were a year ago.

I'm not comfortable with wearing the majority of my silk ties with tweed. There are a few raw silk ties I'd wear (though I am not sure about shantung...seems a bit summery...so I didn't take pictures of those). Mostly wools/cashmere. Some cotton and some raw silk in there.

They make handmade ties in Colorado. My wife bought me a couple for Christmas last year.

I like their ties. Heavy but not thick; the ones I have are not so much bright colors as powerful ones, if that makes any sense. Their stuff really pops. They kind of seem to glow on their own.

Absolutely gorgeous. Thick and soft. I don't know from neckties but I have a handful of ties that I've collected throughout the years and these JZ's are Jaguar F-types where my others are Toyota Camrys. They just look and feel completely different. I'm a huge fan.

On the other hand, maybe this is just the difference between an $80 tie and a $30 tie.

Silk may be my least favorite material for ties outside of cotton. Linen and wool are much better. Nothing, however, tops a good silk blend, either with wool or linen. This is 60-40 wool silk. It has the heft and depth of wool with the knotting ability of silk.

Passaggio Cravatte just became an affiliate vendor on SF. A bit out of my price range ($250+ for a tie), but they'd make you a tie from this beauty

from 1940. Imagine the difficulty in weaving that, jacquard loom or no.
