Let me get this straight, Sarkozy was one of the most enthusiastic to bomb Libya in 2011. I remember one of their stadiums Libyans wanted renamed Sarkozy stadium or something. But he took money from Gadaffi & allies in 2007 to fund his election campaigns..

Is your state paying for them? If they are working for non existent federal pay cheques, it might be hard to constrain their appetites.

"...the officers would remain at Sarkozy's side throughout his incarceration 'as long as it is necessary'. The officers will be members of a team doing rotating shifts in the prison, French media reported. Sarkozy will be held in La Sante's isolation unit, where inmates are housed in single cells and kept apart during outdoor activities, meaning he should not be in contact with other inmates."
