So the top tier, your people, have a giant infinity pool of riches to swim in, and the other 95% of the Schlubs are dumped into a kiddie pool with people spilling over the edges, but because we're all technically "swimming" it ok?

With all the yammering about Russian hacking/Comey's letter subverting the democratic process and Stein's ridiculous attempts at recounts, voting against the candidate who won the most electoral votes would be a huge backward step in the democratic process.

So all the talk about EC members receiving death threats and the Dems trying to make EC members vote against Trump is just "fake news" or at best just an attempt to undermine the future government?
I am aware that under "normal" circumstances the EC votes the way the state they represent has voted, but these are clearly not "normal" circumstances. Otherwise none of the final candidates would have made it to the presidential election.
And why do the losers still whine about the "public vote"? They all knew the rules beforehand, didn't they?

I remember that. Until voters are required by law to show a valid ID the US public vote means nothing as it's wide open to fraud (from all sides).

I think until we have an honest look at where we are at, there is no way we will be able to come up with the path forward.

An unassailable fact is that for most of the 20th century we paid people way more than their input into the system was worth. It's massively offensive to every schlub that bought into the whole "honest work" and "real people" and the absolutely looney idea you should do better than your parents (I seriously have no idea where that one came from) but it's the reality of the situation. And you know what? It worked. Then we fucked up and let the cracks in the facade grow, and now people are hurt, offended, triggered and all sorts of other descriptors to learn they are a lot further down the pecking order than they thought. Next thing you know they are on pills and heroin and voting Trump even though those very people are getting ready to get Trumpism long and deep in the ass. There was just a story the other day about a whole group of people in Kentucky who are shocked that Obamacare might go away even though Trump campaigned on this very point. Newsflash, there is no "replace" in repeal and replace, it's just gonna kick like 10 million people off the rolls of the insured. We need a stronger safety net right now, not a weaker one.

The moral of the story is people all say they want a meritocracy, but they really don't. The world is as close to a meritocracy now as its ever been, and nobody is happy. Labor isn't worth a lot, period. And the amount of people who want to do what it takes to truly excel, to do things like subsume all the base human emotional responses, sacrifice silly short term wants, while having the requisite intellect necessary, is very very small. This is not even taking into account the amount of luck involved.

I've pretty much come to the conclusion that we need a minimum income, the only thing left to figure out is how to change the whole narrative to get peogle to derive their self worth from somewhere.

Does Cletus have to show an ID when he registers? If not, what stops him from registering several times?
And how can you tell if a voting citizen is actually a citizen without a proper (photo) ID (driver's licence, social security number asf) and are the IDs checked?
In Germany you are registered automatically and you can only vote in a nominated station, usually close to your home.
You have to show your voter's card and a valid photo ID at the entrance. If the name on the ID and the voter card don't match you won't get further. After that you go to your designated voting room, hand over your voter's card (it has a number on it that gets checked and crossed out on a list) in return for a ballot. You have two x's to make, one for the party you support and another for the local candidate.
Once the voting has ended (usually at 6 PM) the votes are counted, supervised by a rather large committee.
You won't see anybody wearing t-shirts (or caps or whatever) supporting a particular party or candidate.

The process is not as airtight as Germany or other countries. There is no across the board requirement to provide ID prior to voting.

I am more interested in where this notion of potential for widespread voting fraud is rising from. It is possible but the probability of it occurring on a scale to skew and election is minuscule.
 
Voting fraud is bullshit but I've never understood why the fuck we can't require ids to vote. With all the money we have why can't we just pop them out on the spot for those lacking? Of course, this would require more than one day of voting, which is another stupid anachronistic bunch of bullshit.

People have 4 years to get a photo ID for the next general election, so why not make them get one now if they want to vote? Perhaps even a special voter ID that is registered in a special voter register.
That should minimize any allegations of voting fraud.
I see the need to register as a supporter for either candidate/ party as the bigger problem.
Do the respective states/ counties actually know exactly who lives there and who is eligible to vote?
Do you have to tell your local authorities that you're living in their area (or leaving it)?

Firstly, you don't have to register in a party to vote.

You do have to register to vote though in your state, which takes an ID, you can't just say I'm so and so. The states all maintain databases of registered voters, yes. If you move you have to notify them of your new address. If it's another state you have to register there.
 
Trump elected by the Electoral College. He only lost 2 votes in Texas. Hillary lost 4 in Washington, three electors voted for Colin Powell & one voted for Faith Spotted Eagle.
 
Headline on the HuffPo was "Vote Loser wins" or something to that effect. The interesting thing about the vote count was that if you took California out of the equation Hillary would have lost, handily.

Now that the EC has spoken, it appears the last hope for the Dems is to stop Trump in the courtroom, based on the assumption that Russia helped him into office.
If that fails, too, there's only one option left. So Trump better slim down to make a smaller target.

Lol at the United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team report about Russians hacking the elections. Out of the 13 pages 3 are about how the attack happened but have no information whatsoever how it is linked to the Russians. It is widely known that the NSA could have tracked the information going from the US to Russia or any other country. Nothing at all about how this is connected to the GRU or SVR. FSB would have nothing to do regardless how bad they would like it, it is not their job.

Also the expelling or 35 officials from the US is laughable at best and Putin did the right thing by ignoring Oblunder. Its like a kid screaming for candy and the parent ignoring it, just a nuisance. Olo Oblunder goes down as a child ignorant fuck.
