Perhaps Trump will emulate some other state in the past with some other minority group, and Muslims can simply pay to get an 'exception' to enter and leave the country.

The main point remains, that is to keep guns out of the hands of idiots in the first place.
Carrying a gun just because you are allowed to do so is stupid, especially if you don't know how to use it.
In a real fire fight (good guy (civilian) with a gun vs. a bad guy with a gun) chances are the bad guy will win.

Watched a documentary once about the infantry training in the US forces. It's sooooo different from the one I had.
US version: Simulated attack in the middle of the night, real shots fired (tracing ammo), everybody runs for cover.
"My" version: Somebody shouts "Alarm" in the middle of the night, half an hour later some folks are still asleep in their tents.
