"At a meeting of Republican lawmakers Tuesday, Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas cast doubt on the spending talks, asking, 'What the hell are we doing?' according to a Republican source familiar with his remarks."

I don't know Ted - you tell us....

Meanwhile, up in Jock Land, a sad case of retrograde Jacobean hatred of modernity or the effects of glue sniffing in the late 70s/early 80s, you decide:

Olo what a sorry vindictive little prick you are buckley

Bit touchy there laddie. Steady.

Thanks for taking the effort to drop dog crap on my postings.

Your interest in me, whilst creepy, shows that I'm not to be ignored, even though you can hit that little ignore button.

you seem usure or confused about who or what is coming at you. Perhaps its your poor reading comprehension again.

sounds like you have a cluster B personality disorder. I would recommend you speak to a professional for a more precise diagnosis, alternatively you can always self medicate.

It's nice to know that news media are finally picking up the Kamala Harris is not entirely black. She has shades of brown. How one colour dominates the rest of your multiracial heritage I can only attribute to whichever race makes the most noise.

One can almost feel sympathy for Americans, what with this cynical grotesque and a senile old man versus that loon-ball in Maison Blanc.

But, and its a big BUT, as Bernard Shaw said many years ago, a country gets the politicians it deserves...

Which includes my own...

Yes and she has the black people locked up as well. Did you see how the prison stocks rose after the announcement?

She ain't from no hood, bro', or a descendant of slaves in the USA, same as Obama. Daughter of the intellectual privileged PhD elite.

She's not what you armchair revolutionaries are hoping for both here in Europe and in the USA.

A prosecutor and married to a jew to boot! Two sins the modern Left will have problems with.

you do realize that bds has nothing to do with anti-semitism, right?

Some people like to conflate the BDS movement with anti-Semitism.

I think that there are a few different reasons for that, including using an accusation of anti-Semitism as a tool to attack the generally left-wing people supporting the BDS movement. Interestingly, I think that some Israelis or Jews also find it politically useful to conflate any criticism of Israel with anti-Semitism, as it then makes it more difficult to criticise Israel.

There may be some actual anti-Semites who support the BDS movement but (at least from what I've observed) most BDS supporters don't have an anti-Semitic bone in their bodies and many really like and support Israel - but they don't agree with Israel's policies towards Palestinians and thus view the BDS movement as a way to apply pressure to Israel to hopefully achieve a change in its policies.

It has everything to do with antisemitism as it targets individuals and businesses on the basis that they are Israeli and/or Jewish owned. It is a rerun of the 1930 fascist boycotts of Jewish businesses as a number of shopkeepers in London and elsewhere have found out.

The photo has everything do with antisemitism, for the lady on the right is Shami Chakrabarti the author of the infamous Chakrabarti Inquiry for which she was given her peerage for the dubious honor of stating that Corbyn's Labour Party was anything but antisemitic. Whilst it was riddled with it.

This is precisely what I was talking about in my previous post - the inference that simply because someone criticises Israel, they are anti-Semitic.

I know Jewish people who are very unhappy with what Israel has become and are very worried about its future, and they want pressure applied to Israel in the hope that it will change. Does that mean that they are anti-Semitic Jews? Of course not - it simply means that they are critical of Israel, not of Judaism as a religion and as a culture.

Pimpernel, you disdain "cancel culture" and are highly critical of what you see as efforts to stop people from speaking out on various issues. Yet, when it comes to criticism of Israel, you condemn such talk and accuse people of anti-Semitism. What happened to your championing of free speech, and your disdain for "cancel culture"?

BDS is not just criticism and lobbying is it? It is the deliberate boycotting and sanctioning of Israel in an attempt to delegitimize and stigmatize it as uniquely bad. It sanctions against individuals including academics because they are either Jewish or Israeli. As one example, at a music festival in Spain, the American rapper Matisyahu who is Jewish was told he needed to sign a declaration against Israel before he could attend. Nobody else was requested to do this and that's clearly antisemitic. Jewish members of the UK Labour Party have had to sign similar declarations or be heckled out of meetings.

The inference that BDS is just criticism of Israel, is wrong, for it is much more targeted and vindictive than that i.e. do not invest or purchase goods from Israeli and do not invited Jewish academics to your conferences, etc.

BECAUSE ITS UNIQUELY BAD!

oh stop it. these are both ridiculous examples and the labour party claims of antisemitism have been found to be completely made up just to smear the corbyn reelection campaign.

yes thats what a boycot is god damn it.
