The Next Israel/Lebanon War

They have a similar disregard for their own troops - treating them as human wave cannon fodder or future martyrs. Orcs.

Fuck. Israeli Air Force just started bombing Hezbolla camps in Southern Lebanon. Guess it’s time for a Third Lebanese War thread. The big question being what the other factions in Lebanon will make of this and who they side with.

People celebrating in the streets in Syria, where Hezbollah was involved in several large-scale massacres like Aleppo.

It seems the IDF had great intel on Hezbollah and failed to penetrate Hamas. Why do you think that is?

That’s what the a good chunk of the country is now enraged about. How could the IDF/Shin Bet/Mossad be so prepared for one thing and so unprepared for the other. Mind numbing intelligence failure. In a normal world everyone involved would have resigned, but that’s Bibi and his cronies for you.

They’ve been preparing for a confrontation with Hezbollah since 2006, as the terror group has been considered the “real” threat/Iran’s spearhead since the last war. Given a ground operation would be costly for Israel (tough terrain, no good strategic approach, Hezbollah is a real army for all intents and purposes), the plan has always been focus on degrading them as much as possible to either avoid or significantly change the balance of power.

Hamas was not considered a significant threat beyond minor squirmishes.

Also most people in Lebanon hate Hezbollah, unlike Gazans and Hamas, so easier to penetrate

Big if true: Rumours flying that Iranian Brigadier General Abbas Nilforoushan, the Revolutionary Guard commander in Lebanon, was killed.

However, Tehran has not confirmed this information.

This is the fucker who was torturing and raping Iranian pro-democracy protestors a couple of years ago.

IDF claims the entire top command of Hezbollah's missile & rocket forces has been eliminated.

"Therefore, I gave the directive – and Nasrallah is no longer with us. His elimination advances the return of our residents to their homes in the north. It also advances the return of our hostages in the south."

But the hostages are in....Gaza?

"The more that Sinwar sees that Nasrallah will not be coming to his rescue, the greater are the chances for returning our hostages."

Yeah Right Yes GIF by Bounce

The more I win in the North, the more chance people will forget that I fucked-up with Gaza.

"Hezbollah was 'weaker than it has been for many, many years,' and called on the Lebanese people to 'stand up and take your country back.'"

When was the last time the Lebanese were united on anything? They never even bothered to repair their electricity supply.

“The IDF has yet to comment on that incident. But it alleged that Hezbollah had fired around 25 rockets and missiles in the last month from sites located near Unifil sites. It accused the armed group of ‘exploiting their proximity to UN forces’”

Human shields. No different than what Hamas does.

"In a more hopeful sign, the U.S. ambassador to Lebanon submitted a draft truce proposal to halt fighting between Hezbollah and Israel to Lebanon’s parliament speaker Nabih Berri on Thursday, an adviser to the speaker, Ali Hamdan, told NBC News."

So much more hopeful than Hamas saying they will release everyone....if you will too.

“Even if one person is hiding here…Should you destroy buildings where people are sleeping inside? Is it necessary to kill all the people for one person? Or we’re not humans? That’s what I’m asking.”

ICC war criminal Yoav Gallant has the answer.

“The IDF said Hezbollah had fired 240 rockets at Israel, of which many were intercepted, with sirens sounding across most of the country. At least four people had been injured by shrapnel.”

Clearly Hezbollah and Lebanon are angling for a ceasefire. Because as the Russia-Ukraine war shows if you want peace and wars to stop you fire more sh@t at the other side.
