I'm sure the British are being vilified because Boris Johnson has taken over from Emmanuel Macron as the voice of European opposition to the war showing the greatest support and care for Ukrainian self-determination and its people.

(...and sometimes to occupy the papers from talking about covid parties and dodgy Tory cabinet members)

There's a line being drawn in the sand with the Russian/Ukrainian diaspora here. There's those that buy into that propaganda and proclaim not convincingly that the Ukrainians are bombing their own people and are indeed, neo-Nazis. But not that many, as you would expect, their naturally environment is not Western Europe.

It started before the invasion. Many from the Russian diaspora would not believe that Putin would invade and commit such atrocities. Most of them have realised their error. But in the run-up my wife lost some friends temporally as they wouldn't believe what she was telling them, and indeed, I didn't think he would invade. Considering it all bluff.

Putin has successfully turned Russia into a toxic brand, even amongst the diaspora, except for a few lower class zealots. The educated, middle class Russian expats certainly were ready to believe that there was no sinister plans for Ukraine and internally within Russia, but not now. The truth is too explicit.

You could make an argument, and a good one that those talking heads don't believe a word that they are saying, that its theater, a mere, confection.

It does, however, give us a peak inside the Russian psyche...

Because Zelensky does daily briefings to keep his country in the news. The story also evolves so it's not always I'm a pauper please help me. It's please help me, you could be next, I will join NATO/EU, no you're not helping so NATO/EU is weak so I'm not joining, back to please help me.

Two separate and distinct issues. I see there's a lot of activists trying to draw equivalence that the raid on the mosque is equivalent to Putin's actions in the Ukraine. It isn't. If the Palestine cause and plight is so great, they should have no need to latch onto Ukraine and try and piggy-back of it. It should be self-evident.

There's a lot of in-breds there in Transnistria. The mother-in-law visited some distant relations there - her sister - and promptly got dumped out of the car because she mentioned it was obvious why the Ukrainians had blown up one of the bridges into their most prestigious of nations.

A sister dumped another sister out of the car because of a difference in politics?

I don't know how eastern Europeans are but in my family, family comes first above all including the state and rule of law.

Freedom of Russia Legion is a new TDF unit fighting with the Ukrainian-backed forces, comprised of Russian former POWs. It might be two men and a publicity stunt or it might by the start of some real resistance to Putin.
