Tobacco Thread

I'm not a cigarette smoker, but I know enough people who cheap out on the Six Nations smokes. They smell like shit, I guess a they temporary a high before wanting to puke is enough for them.

People from SW Ontario aren't the brightest bunch, especially if you're from Caledonia.

Almost done. This one was a freebie we received last year at a customer appreciation event. Actually it was a five pack, this is the last one of the bunch

Hello my Angel.

I had a Air Bender from La Flor Dominicana a couple days ago

Today I will be having some dark cherry pipe tobacco from Smoker's Haven in Buffalo

Let me know what you think of cherry. I'd expect it to be too sweet and nasty, like those cheap cigars.
I started pipes with the grandfatherly Captain Black White, and then the Royal blend. I never returned to the Gold. Lately I've gotten blends from a local JR cigar, a butter rum and now something of which I cannot remember the ingredients.
After years with corncobs and meerschaum, I finally got a briar and it does add to the flavor.

This stuff doesn't come off as too sweet. Most of these aromatics that I recently bought were only lightly flavoured. The smell is very pleasant when it burns at the right temp.

I'm working my way through one pouch at a time and so far I really look forward to the cherry. It is just a touch sweet to the tongue when you get it just right.

Edit:

Actually, that's not true, I've got two pouches on the go, the second is supposedly flavoured with Maple.

Actually cherry is welcome for me at least with tobacco, the Partagas Black series usually has a dark stone fruit flavor underneath the tobacco, almost redolent of the black fruit cakes that a friend from Belize used to make for me.

That sounds good. :omg:

The airbender I had possessed a bit of spiciness to it, not something I'm used to with cigars. I find it really difficult to discern flavours from cigars so this one felt like a real treat!

If maple can be done in a woodsy and not syruppy sweet way, I'd love that. That's some local blend?

In the mid 90s I had some Bering cigars, possibly with that green wrapper, that were a neat spicy flavor. Then I never ran across them again.

Had the Coyol from Alec Bradley today with a coffee. Smoked it slowly and let it rest for a long time in between draws had a great pace to it, little sweetness and only ashed it twice. Today, my friend I was smoking with ashes his cigars like they are regular cigarettes, I want to shake him and say "slow down, this isn't a race".

You don't just savor for relaxation and economy. Smoke tastes worse when the burn is hotter.

So, this evening. Punch Bareknuckle, a smoke I bought a box of years ago and I think this is the last one. After two-plus years in the humidor it's developed nicely.

I do not own a humidor, so I'm not sure how that whole development process works..
How did this cigar develop/improve, if you don't mind sharing?

Generally speaking most cigars will balance out and mellow over time. Punch Bareknuckle in particular is kind of a low-price internet offering and so can be a little rough. This particular blend is generally a spicy woody dry smoke out of the box, but by this time the rougher areas had been smoothed out.

I've heard some say that even cheap drugstore pipe tobacco can benefit by being sealed off with the proper humidity for 3-12 months, but I've never really bothered. That said, there is always a notable dropoff when going from an old pouch to a fresh new one.

I'm looking forward to another Alec Bradley cigar, specifically the Connecticut.

Thank you gents. Sadly I lost the pictures of where we re-lined it and created the shelves, but it's still a keeper.

Oh dear.

Well, I've been enjoying my cherry pipe tobacco lately. About to light up a bowl with my boozy drink.

Two more days to the tax deadline. Finally home, doing laundry and drinking an IPA and smoking an Ave Maria something. It's like a skinny toro., sat in the humidor for maybe 6 months now, enjoying it slowly.

Do you find some parts of a cigar taste better than others? I find once I'm a bit passed half way things are smoother and tastier, to a degree.

Yay you didn't drown in the flood
It was bad in some areas; still is in others. First and last photos are our casa, middle photos are down the road fronts where I run on weekends.

Oh, top photo was taken at 4 am, during the Lightning Storm. It was a constant strobe effect. During a tornado warning

In some cases, yes. Some cigars tend to be divided into thirds with different flavor profiles. Also, after 10 minutes the burn may have settled a bit from the initial lighting, but that really comes more into play if you really scorch the foot while lighting.
