WDYBT: What Did You Buy Today

I have bought some inexpensive shirts from Charles Tyrwhitt. I was impressed with their Ludgate weave shirt I purchased last year, so I bought Cambridge weave and Egyptian Link weave shirts. I have also bought around 12 Egyptian cotton fitted bed sheets as due to illness I am spending 20 hours a day in bed...
Sorry to hear about that. Hope you feel better soon

Made the mistake of buying these:

So unbelievably baggy, what did I expect with a Relaxed Fit.

Anyway, returning Ralph Lauren stuff is a doddle. You tell them you're sending it back, print out the label they've sent, drop it off at one of the UPS centers and they return it free of charge.

Edit: suppose I could get them taken in a bit. Now there's a thought.

trousers would be the most difficult thing to buy online, l would never dare to do it. Even buying trousers from the shops is very difficult, at least for me. I know one bloke whose trousers always look perfect, he is an easy fit. For me it is a nightmare.

It's a bugger isn't it? I measure a 34-35'' waist and yet most sizes I'm a 36'' or 38''. And then you have the problem of trousers that are like leggings around the thighs and crotch. I'm a straight up and down silhouette which makes me ideal for off-the-rack stuff. Or should. But not for pants.

Those RL are actually ideal around the waist, so I'll probably just get them taken in on the leg.

More pj bottoms. Two from Bonsoir of London and one from British Boxers...

The blue and red stripe is 90% cotton and 10% linen, but I don't believe you would notice the linen content at that amount.

Remember I am shirtmaker, just the way it looks shows the linen, specially in red. Too many hours handling fabrics and watching sample books as well.

Sent them back. That forest green as well isn't for everyday.

I like popovers, even if they are a bit preppy. These two were in the end of season clearance. The denim is abbot thin, but will be fine for summer. The oxford was the real surprise - thick AND soft. The OCBDs I’ve bought from them in the past have been really stiff and scratchy. Extra Slim Fit is on point. Cheap, but I ended up buying very mediocre pair of cotton chinos as well, just to make it up to $100 for the free shipping.

I have 2 like that....though not button down. One is blue and one is an off pink/burgundy.

I like that they are casual and it doesn't look as if I am pushing my more "formal" shirts.

Nice. I like pop overs too even if I currently only have two.

Bought a 100 hands white linen Nehru collared shirt yesterday. Insane handwork, the hem is rounded at the front, intended to be worn outside the pants. Really nice item.

Deets please!
From a leather factory in the Montreal leather district that make jackets for Canadian and US retail shops. MTM. Spanish shearling.

Brown one is a take on the B-3 but with pockets for practicality. A reasonably faithful version and I was but not looking for an exact-spec B-3. The black one is a shearling version of a utility or mechanic's jacket.

Both are shorter loft (10 mm vs 16 mm) so I can wear them at a wider range of temps in spring, fall and winter. Not sweat generators at 0 C (32 F). Weigh in at 6 lbs. But they are supple and flexible with no break-in required compared to my Simmons-Bilt bison. That is the beauty of shearling.

pics please

Really cool how they did that shape on the hem. The second pic is of the inside. Super neat. I had to go up a size to a 17 (43) for it to fit right. They seem to be made a bit small all over. I did a a Capri button down by them as well that was the same size wise.

Bought some Casatlantic chinos in beige and navy (made by true murroquians!!!1!!) and enough socks to (hopefully) last a few years (Calze Sabas).

Picked up this bag 2 weekends ago. I really like it, but I really don't really need a new wknd bag.

I am thinking of returning it tomorrow......

I wouldn’t know how to keep that pristine off-white for more than a few hours

Dropbear Dropbear

So keep or return?
I like it. A good size and a welcome change to all the Filson bags out there. But if you don’t think you’ll use it then you might as well return it.

I scoured the earth to find a beautiful vintage (Talon zip era) Filson duffle a few years ago. I sold it last year when I realised that those little rolling hard shell carry-on bags with a handle aren’t half as cool but are twice as practical.

Talon zip?

Talon zip?

Popular zipper brand often used to date vintage stuff. From memory, Filson were using talon zips up until the mid-1980s when they switched to a house brand (and cut some production corners elsewhere).

There’s nothing inherently better in the actual zipper, it’s just used as an easy reference for dating the production era.

Talon had their hey day from the 50s to the 80s. Before that, it was ‘Hookless’ you’d find In better made stuff (including jackets and bags).

I find the filson super practical and given their color I dont mind if they get a little bit dirty.

I have 3 different colored ones I picked up on ebay I use during the week (1 for work, 1 for jiu jitsu stuff, 1 for climbing stuff), and a duffel bag one for weekend travel.
