WDYBT: What Did You Buy Today

Here is my problem....

I already own this which I picked several years ago. Love it! My wknd go-to.

I also have something like this(mine has yellow accents) with about 25 luggage tags from all over around the handles. Basically my go to for airline flights. It's basically a really nice carpenters bag.

Not sure the Zara bag would get any light!

Plus I have several other bags the size of weekenders or a little larger.

I find the filson super practical and given their color I dont mind if they get a little bit dirty.

I have 3 different colored ones I picked up on ebay I use during the week (1 for work, 1 for jiu jitsu stuff, 1 for climbing stuff), and a duffel bag one for weekend travel.

What do you use for airline travel? Actually, we have a thread for this topic …

I do remember that travel thread.

What luggage? I have a Tumi Ducati case that fits in the overhead.

Pretty close to that ^.

I also have 2 Kipling bags that are larger for longer trips. An ex-GF bought me the first one for a trip to NOLA for Mardi Gras in the "denim" color. I bought the 2nd for years later for a longer trip to match.

My luggage is purchased for durability. I spend MUCH more on my carryons/weekenders.

I had one of the cheaper Tumi’s for about 10yrs, recently switched to a Briggs & Riley (got it for free w loyalty points) about a month ago when the Tumi gave up

I also have this Tumi orange large weekend bag made out os some type of "ballistic nylon". I also found a case in the same color/material that can hold my passport case/iPad/etc. Plus I found a smaller case for cables.

Tumi has served me well over the years. Honestly, so has Kipling!

China-made half-canvas unsuit, in a blue birdseye Guabello Super 120. Decent fit for me OTR and priced ($200 shipped) in the same range as fused polyester junk from Target.

Unlike many here, I like a lot of Uncle Ralph's wares. However, I cannot stand to buy or wear an item that has that pony prominently displayed .

It is my issue though and many wear it well so Enjoy!

Same. I hate all logos and will pass on anything with branding on it. used to make an exception for Fred Perry since it doesn’t really look like a logo and isn’t well known (at least outside of the UK).

I have 1 Polo polo made of terrycloth. It is probably close to 25 years old. I can wear that lounging around a friends yard in the summer as we BBQ. I generally don't wear it "out" much.

I also have 2 of their thermal pajama tops that I wear at home in the winter.

Have periods were I consider the logo far too ubiquitous and seems to be on every male, everywhere. And those enlarged logos are embarrassing under any circumstances. But other times, like now, when I think they're the best off-the-rack big brand around in terms of quality and consistency of range. The madras, preppy checks and primary colour shirts are great and if you wear jackets, the issue of the logo is manageable.

On most of their button downs the collar is too small for a tie, and it looks really naff if you do wear one. Not all, the Purple Label ones I bought are good with a tie. The collar is the right size.

My family all say I look much better and younger in a bit off RL than my normal ''Old Man'' look to them. Which is classic menswear.

Have a love hate relationship with RL, and the moment, I'm in the love phase.

Noticed the neighbour's kid had a Fred Perry on yesterday. I've never owned one. When it comes to polo's the aspiration was always Lacoste or RL, but generally you had to settle for a Pringle. That was back in the 80s.

I've Lacoste polo's and RL rugby shirts that are 20+ years old. But they're all coming to the end of their life now.

Lacoste is over for me, they deliberately reinvented themselves as a youth brand for the far east. All the good stuff they did is long gone.

its a real bitch to find a high quality polo with no pockets and no logos.

Hmmm, I don't mind pockets on polos. Prefer sans pockets but a pocket is not a deal breaker on a polo for me if I really like a polo.

I like pockets on t shirts - otherwise they can look like underwear.

As for polos, H&M, S&M and Kent Wang are good enough for me.

I’ve ditched polos for cotton henleys lately (from Bronson). I think they are more versatile and lend themselves to more combinations

Same for me. When I was younger, polos and Harrington’s could be edgy and mod but now I just feel like dad on his way to play golf. I got a bunch of cheap ‘muscle fit’ henleys from Amazon last year that I live in most weekends.

Sunspel, but they are expensive af
No logo, Sunspel is the way to go.

There's an Italian make too - can't remember the name - they sell in Pelger here.

Over a certain age, I think 40, you should avoid cream or beige Harrington's, as they really are an old man's look. It worked for Steve McQueen, but look where he is now. I would wear a black or navy one like Elvis Presley, but they remind me to a certain extent of the early 80s skinhead thug look.

Fedeli? Have a few and prefer Sunspel.

As an experiment, out of boredom with the ubiquitous short sleeve polo, I'm having my shirt maker do a long sleeve version.

I had a pique long sleeve polo that was my go-to for wear under a crew neck sweater. In thicker fabrics it’s basically a rugby jumper without the stripes.

I’m not a fan of long sleeve polos under sports coats (seems to be very popular right now), but since I’ll wear a pop-over in the same circumstances there’s probably no reason for it.

Just ordered this, sized up based on the specs on the RL website, now this is the type of chore/engineer jacket I'm digging at the moment:

RL refunded this, so I assumed it wasn't available. Then I get an email late Friday saying it's on the way. But the money was still in my pocket money account, which I thought was pretty good and took as a sign I was getting a freebie. So I bought some more gear, then overnight Saturday, the money was automatically taken out.

Very glad it's on the way, as I want that jacket, big time.

Companion piece to this beaut, which I've sported only the once so far, at the Heaven 17 concert with a red Ralphy button-down:

Would have looked good as you dad danced to Crushed by the Wheels of Industry.
