What happened today that neither pissed you off nor made you happy but is nevertheless noteworthy?

Today's museum tour was Halloween themed. I've been bumping into this GILF for the tours. She's very fit. Always puts on makeup. Always comes alone. Not like I was looking for some Inganno (Deceitful Love) thing but I've seen her at least twice now.

This tour had slightly less retirees because it is reading week and there were a few uni students there dressed up in costumes.

Dressing in Halloween costume for work when there aren't any pre-planned or organised events. Okay or not okay?

The free free Palestine chants got a lot smaller a year on at this uni.

I think it is the end of prunes and plums here for fruits. Might try the pears and apples next and I think that's it for stuff at the market that isn't in a greenhouse.

Yet another open bar event that I cannot take advantage of. I did get a free book and the chance to get it signed. I neither wanted book nor did I think I needed it signed.

I am standing at one of these tall tables with a glass of water in an old fashioned glass. Yet still this 50 year old Aussie woman and this other bald semi retired banker want to come up and talk to me. Why I have no idea. Shouldn't they gravitate the people swigging free wine and beer?

I went to buy an assistive device for my father at the blindness association. I had rung earlier to ask if the item was in stock. One hour of subway, a bus and a few steps later I saw a man typing in front of a laptop in the retail section of this association. I said I rang earlier about this and he then proceeded to get the device (the size of a puffer) in a very large store space and then come back to set me up as a customer on his tablet (which is using TalkBack on Android) and then charge me for it. In the middle of my checkout some lady insisted on jumping the queue to tell him something (f*ck the man is blind but whatever).

I'm not impressed with a lot of people but it impressed me a lot about this man's will to work to keep his right to live. On my way back I also bumped into a man completely blind who then boarded the same bus as me (the first one missed us) and I left him when we got off at the subway station.

found this elsewhere and thought it was useful:

Just an FYI:

Products with the name pyrex (all lowercase) are made by a company called World Kitchen and are made out of clear tempered high-thermal-expansion soda-lime glass, which has a lower thermal shock resistance, making them susceptible to explosions in the microwave or oven. You can identify them by the lower case logo and the bluish tint in the glass.

Products with the name PYREX (all uppercase) are made of clear, low-thermal-expansion borosilicate glass and are not susceptible to explosions in the microwave or oven. They can be identified by the logo which is in all upper case letters and the glass will be clear, not blue.

TLDR: Look at the Logo, PYREX (All uppercase) is good, pyrex (all lowercase) potentially explodes in the microwave.

Remember that "borosilicate glass" is the important part, not the Pyrex brand. Plenty of other companies make good borosilicate dishes

Was on a museum tour with the retirees today.

I learnt that geese fly in a V formation because of aerodynamic reasons. And they take turns being at the centre of the V. Also if one goose needs to pull out, two geese follow the one injured one until it dies or can return to flight.

Yes. The thoughtfulness of non-human animals is very much under appreciated.

I took the subway to the last station of a particular line and then a 30 minute bus ride continuing north on one street. I realised if I were to move to these neighbourhoods I would need to learn Korean or Farsi.

Delivering food to my "daughter" by subway then Uber. Always interesting to see who is on transit in the middle of the day on a weekday.

The city's cooking classes have new spaces again for next year. Only baking. Kind of sucks. I suck at baking.

they are up to some WEIRD shit in Milwaukee.

It was so cold. Even on the subway when we were going across above ground stations. I had to keep my coat and scarf on.

congratulations?

I had 1 AstraZeneca, 2 Novavax, 2 Pfizer, and now the third Moderna. So far I can feel the injection point. I'm a little cold but it's cold and I didn't sleep the best last night so fingers crossed.

Really want to get to the gym and lift some weights tomorrow.

wait for at least 72 hours.

The incoming administration will have your name for Un-American activities.
I agree with RFK Jr on getting rid of ultra processed foods, exercise and select cases of natural supplements over pharmaceutical products.

The vaccines or not dying?

It's free. My father won't get it and is in bad shape. I see him often so I think I'm helping by not contracting the China virus.
You do know the vaccine(s) neither protect you from contracting the virus, nor from transmitting it once you have contracted it?

There’s not much I can do about it, and the minute I do die, I won’t care anymore. So that’s all there’s to it unfortunately, from my point of view.

That sounds like Marcus Aurelius in a movie: Death smiles at us all. All a man can do is smile back.

Although my brother reminded me I'm Anglican, I come from a family that didn't put any stock into religion. Along with Santa doesn't exist, my mother told me death was like turning off a television when I was a child.

I was oblivious to it for years since I was so far away but now I'm highly cognizant of coming to the end. I do hope I can hit my peak in my 70s like Xi, Lula, Putin, Trump, Modi and Netanyahu and then retire to provide sage advice at 100+ like Kissinger.

You make it sound like the only reason I got it was to boost the share prices of Moderna, Pfizer and Novavax.

No you took it because apparently you fell for the propaganda and ignored the science. I am also sure you are aware Pfizer et al are still raking in cash even though no is taking their crap anymore, they made their deal in 2020/21.

I used one of those Amazon pickup kiosks today and I must have entered the magic winning code because 3 doors opened up and I was able to get someone else's Zwilling kitchenware and something else at the top I would never be able to reach.

I also got my own package.
