I finally got around to watching the Queen’s Gambit. ATJ really is a good actor, though the story seemed to meander without direction a lot of the time.

As Rambo predicted I am totally lost on Ahsoka. It's a lot of Star Wars stuff happening. I don't understand what the point of repeating certain motifs and scenes means. There's one where a Jedi apprentice is wearing a helmet trying to practice a lightsaber. It reminds me of JJ Abrams' Star Wars movie.

Working my way through a Brit drama from a few years ago called The Bodyguard. So far it’s just ok, but there’s still time for some interesting twists and turns so I’m staying with it.

Jed Mercurio's work when he took a break from Line of Duty.

I think it also played a big part in launching the career of Richard Madden.

Without watch Star Wars Rebels you’re not going to have a connection to the story.

Good show but Madden was already launched after Game Of Thrones. If anything, it put him up the rankings as a possible James Bond.

I must be one of 7 people in the world who never watched a single episode of Game of Thrones.

It took a while for me to warm to it, but it was a fantastic last couple eps!

Also finished The Foundation. A few good acts, but it still feels like they get a new group of writers in each week to take things somewhere different. It’s a mess, but at least the last ep tied a few threads together.

Season 2 really really takes it out to left field.

I finished watching Special Ops: Lioness. It's 8 episodes following a CIA black ops group that tracks down an Arab financier of terror activities. The Lioness is the woman operative they train. In this case it's an abused woman who turned to the Marines. Laysla De Oliveira pretends she's Arab (I guess Brasilian people look like Arab people?) and infiltrates through the target's free spending daughter to get close and terminate the target.

There were some good action scenes. They spent a lot of money on casting. Morgan Freeman only comes on in the last two episodes as Secretary of State. Michael Kelly does his usual Michael Kelly thing from House of Cards. Nicole Kidman starts out as that shadowy figure in the background, and turns into a woman hell bent on stopping the next incarnation of ISIS. Zoe Saldana has the most screen time as the show covers her family and the impacts of working a clandestine job on her two daughters and husband.

I thought the show ended pretty abruptly. De Oliveira and Saldana get into a fight because she feels she was used and started getting attached to the target's daughter. And then the show just ends with Saldana reuniting with her family. Nobody really knows what happens to the other folks but who cares(?)

David Beckham documentary. I shouldn't watch it but I have this morbid interest in it like the Kardashians.

I finished the Beckham documentary. He comes off as someone pretty nice especially in the scenes around his kids. I didn't know his father had such an influence on his career. But more importantly I didn't know he cheated on Posh. He doesn't admit it in the video other than saying it was a time he was away from his family and alone and it was tough.

I didn't catch on to his career until his final Real Madrid season and I saw him in person with the Galaxy when he took a corner and had beer thrown at him during a champions league fixture against my hometown club. During the credits it's rather sad he is still better at age 47 at free kicks than his son.

Watched one episode of Ted Lasso season 3. Wanda Cunnigham and Juno Temple are definitely ageing compared to the first season.

Who is that?

You seem obsessed with ageing? Sorry to break it to you but we all age. Unless you have found the elixir to eternal youth? In that case, share!

Hannah Waddingham. Dyslexia kicking in.

Ageing is a disease but no I don't know how to reverse it.

I’m a couple of eps into Fall of the House of Usher and enjoying it. They are dragging the story out over eight eps, but it is well made and a cast full of surprises.

Edit: solid entertainment and a great cast. 8/10

Beckham thing was good, if a bit too obviously curated by them themselves. Overall a good watch.

Everyone is getting a documentary. Even Rooney. And to think the man at one time was rated better than Ronaldo.

Invasion Season 2 has finished. Against the recommendations on this thread I started watching it. I think I'm half way through but to be honest I'm only watching it for Golshifteh Farhani and she is one of 4 of storylines. It's getting repetitive because it's usually her going "Hey daughter, stay here whilst I go run after your teenaged brother who never listens" followed by "Hey son, I found you and now we lost your sister."

I finished the The Fall of the House of Usher. In the first few minutes I thought it was one of those quirky crime capers like Knives Out with Bruce Greenwood as the patriarch of a pharmaceutical company (so much not so subtle Purdue Pharma references).

But then I realised after an episode it's really like a Hansel and Gretel or Brothers Grimm type of thing where it's showing Greenwood's on screen kids getting killed one after another in a series of unfortunate accidents. Jealousy. Pride. All those lovely sins and punishment that Christians love drilling into your psyche. In fact the horror atmosphere and gore is really similar to Netflix's The Defeated (also known as Shadowplay). I'm not a lover of instruction through fear but I can see how Christians can relate to it.

Lawman Bass Reeves - this is looking to be pretty good. Only two eps in but it’s hitting all the notes so far.

I finished Ahshoka. As Rambo predicted other than I know what a light sabre is, I was completely lost.

Good to know stormtroopers can be magically resurrected and to keep attacking you like zombie hordes now.

I’m going to have to watch Loki S2 again when I’m sober! That made no sense.

Almost finished the final season of Ted Lasso. It's a bit elegiac and with Nate's dismissal I already sort of know where it's going to go.

The third season definitely was a decline and felt like a postscript to tie up the stories various threads.

I finished All the Light We Cannot See. Lots of period costume as it tells a story at the turning point for the Third Reich after the Allied invasion of continental Europe.

Mark Ruffalo is father to a blind Aria Loberti. Hugh Laurie plays a partisan who covertly makes resistance radio transmissions. There's the Hitler Youth who ends up being the 'good' Nazi. There's the SS officer who is after a stone that bestows immortality that Ruffalo had because he worked at the museum. Later he chases Loberti for it. It's based on a book so maybe it makes more sense to people who read the book.

It looks great visually but I wasn't sure whether it was supernatural creepy magic stone caper or partisan/occupied France vs. Nazi show.

The book is terrific, which is why I won't watch the tv show.
