I am watching Singapore Social on Netflix. My iPad and personal mobile are charging after that virtual escape room so I thought why not look at this on my laptop whilst folding clothes. I feel the 20 minutes I spent watching it reduced my IQ by about 30%.

I don't know with whom the Miss A cups want to compete with...

Hightown ep 2 delivered. Fast pace, interesting characters, nicely filmed and an ok plot boiling away. Solid 8/10.

looking forward to it. still enjoying billions as well although this new corey stoll character has been a bit of a bore as a foil. hopefully it picks up in the final few episodes here.

I finished Singapore Social. I'm convinced I don't ever need to go to Singapore. My IQ is lower. But the clubs, bars, rooftop patios...so appealing after almost 3 months of being away.

i believe that was the grand finale.
Ah, bummer. Third season was a bit slow, but I was still enjoying it. Pretty meh ending then.

agreed. it might be from the lack of decent options on tv at all at this point.
Good pace, good acting, good characters, hot sex scenes and an interesting backdrop. But it’s all been done before. Cops and crime drama. Good guys in drug and alcohol recovery. Lesbian heroes.

That reminds me, I need to go back and rewatch Penny Dreadful. I fell asleep watching it last night.

Just binged through seasons 4 of Animal Kingdom. Still like it. A bit uneven but the ending was great and the set up for season 5 will be interesting.

I'm watching Restaurants on the Edge. I thought the woman hostess was a bit eclectic looking (eyebrows) and then found out she is half German half Chinese.

Been watching the Roman Empire on Netflix. I now know far more about Julius Caesar than what I learnt from Caesar’s Gallic wars or Shakespeare.

I also started this during the week. I am 3/8 episodes in.

A well off/interior design business owner/2 annoying daughters/4 time divorcee decides to give love another chance. She meets John online. He is a divorced doctor and they hit it off on date 1 after she strikes out with several others.

But wait....her daughters don't like him. I mean...REALLY don't like him. They start to see signs that John may not be right for mom even as the relationship is progressing at a fast pace.

Older/spoiled daughter starts to investigate. She sells one of her Chanel bags(which she keeps in a safe in her bedroom) to pay for a private investigator.

What will she find out? What will her mother think if she tells her? Will John spazz out?

Each episode captures a time in the relationship as well as a look back on previous marriages.

You may say to yourself, self, this sounds like a comedy. Nope, it's actually based on a true story and really isn't bad. The daughters can be over the top, but I will definitely finish this up over the wknd.

3/5 after 3 eps. I don't see this going up more than .5 based on the ending. It definitely can go down.

As much as I like Bana, I think I’ll give this one a miss.

I REALLY appreciate your no-bs reviews here.

I finished this last night. Gonna drop it down to a 2/5.

While the story as a whole was interesting, the latter part(8 eps in total) really didn't do anything for me. I guess that they can only do so much as it is based on a true story.

Watched Hustlers.

How does Jennifer Lopez look like that after 20 years and having children and I look nothing like I look 20 years ago?

I was in more than a few of those charges to a credit card nights. One of my ex coworker's wife still hates me for it.

In the old London Soho bars right up until the early 1990s (and maybe longer) those hostess and strip clubs existed for you to have one drink and then be escorted by the bouncer to the local ATM where they would max your cards out to pay for the hostesses time at your table.

Watching Restaurants on the Edge on Netflix. In the Arizona episode they have a market where they rescue fruits and veg destined for the bin because they have blemishes. I swear the zucchini and green beans look better than the rubbish I was buying this weekend. Yanks must have it really good.

Why one drink? The girls always angle for a drink or two themselves. Lemon drop or some other sugary drink I never order. The real predators go for the cognac

RealityZ: Brazilian remake of the Brit miniseries Deadset, but not half as clever, well made or acted. Zombies invade a Big Brother type reality show set. 3/10.

-Setting; Skidmore, Missouri USA. Population < 500.
-Date: Appr 1970's - 1981(initially.)
-Scene: The longtime bully, Ken Rex McElroy, is terrorizing the small town...shooting/raping/burning homes/etc. The small community holds a meeting after his latest shooting > conviction > release on bond! As it seems that even the law can't contain Mr. McElroy, they decide to take matters into their own hands.

-What happens next during this Sundance(TV channel) 6 part series is truly fascinating! The silence that has been held since just shows how much this man/family was hated.

-The series also details how such a small town has since ravaged by crime/murders.

-You will see interviews right after the initial event. You will see longtime town residents share their feelings/thoughts. You will see actual videos of the subsequent crimes, investigations and followup.

-I watched this entire series today on Youtube. I was not looking for it, it just popped up as a rec. I actually started to watch the made for TV movie about the initial event a while back but didn't get 5 min in(Brian Dennehy starred) because something came up. I was looking for BD movies....as I didn't know anything about this event.

-This was ABSOLUTELY fascinating/amazing! Well worth a watch.

-Easily 4.5/5!

Here is ep 1. It may also be available on Amazon Prime:

I'm finally watching The Mandalorian. These episodes are quite short. I tend to press skip recap, skip intro, skip credits so maybe I am missing a few minutes.

The second series of Charité a German production about a Berlin hospital in the war years 1943-1945. It captures the eugenic paranoia and the Nazi organisational horror against the Hippocratic Oath very well. I'm 3 episodes in. Highly recommended.

Finished it last night whilst getting lashed into some after dinner pink gins. Not really an after dinner drink, too moorish by far!

Indeed, an excellent series. Has anybody seen the new Das Boot series? I imagine that will be excellent as well.

On a related note (albeit a book, rather than a TV series), I read "Hitler's Scientists" by John Cornwell some years ago. It was very good, and amongst other things discussed the use of corpses of executed political prisoners for medical dissection etc. Some doctors and scientists refused to cooperate, but others either had no qualms, or managed to push away any moral and ethical objections.

I caught this again over the last week+. I didn't think that I had finished it the last time I watched(I did.)

A teen girl goes missing from the confines of her gated community. Her widowed doctor dad enlists the help of a local resident/detective, who he is seeing on the DL, to help find her.

What starts as a potential runaway spirals into possible kidnapping...maybe?

Old secrets start to be revealed as many in the community panic. Doctor dad/his friend and the police are tracking down every lead to try to find the teen...and to protect the community...and so much more.

This is almost Broadchurch like as it weaves together several plots until the very end. Is the gate to keep the monsters out....or to keep them in?

This is an 8 parter. Glad I revisited.

3.5/5.

I liked it but it did get a bit goofy as the subplots came together. Broadchurch is far less flash in this regard. When the fuck are they going to get some new episodes?
