Just finished watching S1 of this.

Keri Russell is the newly appointed ambassador to the UK. At the very start of her reign, a UK military ship is bombed and they suffer multiple casualties.

Now she must navigate this mess and deal with the needs of the UK...the US's closest ally. Complicating matters is her marriage, which seems to be ending. Oh, her husband was also an ambassador and many call upon him for his advice/counsel.

This is a rather fast moving S1(eight 50min eps.) It seemed like a Madame Secretary, but focusing on the one bombing, sussing out who was behind it and retaliating.

I will definitely watch S2, just to see in which direction they go.

Solid S1.

4/5.

I am watching it now. As a news junkie, Anglophile and someone who lives next to the US it is very interesting.

I do have to comment how prescient it is. References to Ukraine. The old guy who is President and rambles off script with health issues. The unseen female VP.

How bad is your presidency when people start making parodies about you 2/3 into your first term.

I think you will like it. Perfect setup for S2!

The Americans was fantastic. Two great actors and some really solid writing.

You ever see Madama Secretary? The Diplomat had that feel to me....except each ep doesn't deal with a new crisis.

The guy who plays the prime minister is also solid. Forgot where I have seen him.

Will check it out.

I meant to google him as he is very familiar. Same with the husband.

husband is Rufus Sewell. First saw him in A Knight’s Tale as the posh knight versus Heath Ledger the peasant knight.

I don’t understand why they couldn’t let him be British. It would have worked for the ambassador character.

Ahhhhhhhh, yeh! I was confusing him with Clive Owen in Children of Man for some reason. Dude has aged well.

Religion is a factor in the series, but not a major one.
(I'm on ep 8/10.)

I always think organised religion are cults that prey on people who lack confidence and I feel it has been confirmed here.

That said - the whole show is an escalating grudge between him and her over a road rage incident? At least that's what the first episodes look like. Can this actually go on for 10 episodes?

Basically....it is about the road rage incident. But they fill up the 10 eps with family issues(both sides), employment issues, etc.

Wow!

A NJ(New Jersey) police officer is headed to the hospital as his wife is about to give birth. Not really paying attention, he crashes into a young man riding a bike and critically injures him.

Instead of offering assistance, he calls his sergeant/ 3 man team, and after they arrive they advise him to take off and they will "handle" it! The young man dies and the coverup begins!

The case gets handed to an assistant/boozy prosecutor and a newly transferred cop. The family is also on everyone to get justice.

Witnesses are sussed out. Cops consider confessing. "Friends" look to turn on friends.

The cast...the storyline...the acting is just amazing!

I remember starting this when it first came out and was distracted during ep 1. I finished this in it's entirety in 1 day!

4.25/5! One of the better series around.

For me, it would be in the evenings/weekends when the weather isn't great.

I don't sit and watch, but the Tv may be on while I am doing different things....cleaning/cooking/inter-web business. I'm also a big news person so I will have that on over the wknd while reading news stories online.

Me?

I cook at least 5 hours a day on Saturday and Sunday. A lot of the shows I will put on the TV, but I'm chopping (I am not a chef so I have to see where I'm cutting), peeling, prepping, reducing sauces, or in general waiting for things to bake, cook or cool down.

On weekdays, I probably squeeze in an hour a day before my attention span issues kick in again. Lately most of that is devoted to Italian shows to reinforce my weekday Duolingo lessons.

Being single, no children, no spouse, no ex, no pets, no religious congregation, allocating no more than 2 hours/week or less to tend to my brother's kids, no friends, nor any meaningful acquaintance helps. Now that my garden leave has ended, I'm broke so there aren't any events other than raiding church pantries, community fridges or queuing for soup kitchens. If you don't clear 6 figures no women will want to be around you - doesn't matter the age, and I connect with my professional community and prior circle of sycophants as much as Vito Corleone received visitors after he turned everything over to Michael. I previously had familial obligations that occupied weekends, but Wuhan took care of that as well.

Rainy weekend expected in NYC and starting a new gig on Monday. I need something to occupy my time. I started this today.

This story has been done before....this is the Danish version.

Newly crowned nurse starts at a local hospital. She is a sorta single parent....but that's not the plot.

What is happening at her hospital? People are dying and no one knows why? Well...someone at the hospital is administering stuff that they should not!

Da F?

I just finished ep 1 of 4.

I have seen documentaries about situations like this. Apparently, this was based on a real life sicko!

No review so far......

Finished this last night.

Solid and the suspense builds up throughout this 4 part series.

3.5/5.

Started this a few minutes ago.

The deputy MI-6 dude gets thrust into the top spot after the main man gets poisoned and is fighting for his life.

The British know how to do political/intrigue/spy shows. 5 episodes.

Anyone catch this yet?

Somehow I survived watching this. I don't know how a normal sane person could make bad decisions compounded with even more bad decisions which resulted in how the show ended. I guess that's the loser characters on this show.

It reminds me of an old DJ friend of mine who said he went to Ireland to visit his relations and every day it was drinking at the pub, then a strict closing time, then a senseless alcohol fueled fight, then no pussy, and then the whole story repeated again the next day.

They could have tied up having to cast the cousin who had those rape comments on social media by just killing him but I reckon that news only came out after filming finished.

I thought I finished Marvelous Mrs. Maisel after 5 episodes but apparently there are more. That explains how it showed Joel in jail in a future flash-forward, but no context (well I could guess how) how he ended up there. Or suddenly the son Ethan is farming in Israel.

It's probably best this is the final series because Rachel Brosnahan and Michael Zegen are ageing compared to the first season. Strangely the supporting cast playing the parents (Tony Shalhoub, Kevin Pollak, etc.) seem to be roughly the same since 2017.

Ted Lasso is slipping to a 9/10 for me. The laughs are still there, but a bit of the magic is missing. The messages are a bit more heavy handed and the story arcs (Ted getting over his ex and Nate’s redemption) feel a little predictable. Still a fantastic show.

I finally finished Firefly Lane. They broke the second season into two. I'm not sure if it was all filmed in sequence but there were quite a few happy sing alongs by the entire cast at the (second) wedding and even Abba that seemed to be genuine and a bit of a swan song.

It all ends on a happy note. Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke have chemistry. I wish they could be in another show. Even for someone who survived 2 1/2 seasons the back and forth flashbacks and flashforwards can be jarring. I get they want to figure out what past events led to Heigl's character being single, having issues with committing to men, making peace with her sometimes alcoholic/addict mother and Chalke's character on divorce, her lesbian daughter, her gay, not gay and gay again brother, etc. Can't believe Heigl had 3 kids with that body.

I finally finished Mandalorian. I know all of the episodes were released awhile ago but it took some motivation to get through it.

Some of it was extremely predictable like Bo Katan leading all the Mandalorians together. You have Katee Sackhhoff underneath that helmet, and I knew they weren't going to make her wear it forever. Or Grogu digging into his force powers at crucial moments when Din Djarin was outmatched.

I'm beginning to think Mandalorians copied a lot of Japanese samurai concepts - the warrior culture, the strict code, the Ronin like mercenaries, different factions, etc.

I'm still astonished the remnants of the empire have access to so much hardware and resources and this New Republic really isn't all that different than imperial rule. If anything it seems worse.

Great cast and a plot that is or too far moved the top. Political drama, espionage, action and some romance. I’m about three quarters of the way through but it’s a solid 8/10 for me.

I watched the first few eps of Platonic. Rose Byrne can act, but overall I just didn’t find it very funny. Seth Rogen is trying too hard and needs to dial it back a bit.

I think Seth Rogen has become a bit mellow these days except when he's on his pot videos. His old sidekick Jonah Hill is more annoying.

I finally finished the half an episode that I didn't get around to for The Diplomat. The final 5 minutes feels like a TV crew asking for money to make a second season.

I have to think they definitely wrote the script with Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in mind. I don't know when they finished it but the blustery PM was meant to be Boris Johnson before he unexpectedly got himself tossed out of Number 10? The foreign secretary who was a one time competitor to the PM is???? Secretary of state who wants to run on his own? I don't think any Democrat has broken ranks with Biden yet.

"Ambassador Wyler, we are no longer an empire. We're not even part of a continent. We're a small island nation with a great democracy."

"Sir, we can't blithely lob accusations at Russia. They're a nuclear power run by an individual who will happily level sovereign nations even without provocation. We call it genocide. Russia calls it a job well done."

I don't know why but I thought those lines were hilarious.

My hometown is getting its own Law & Order franchise. Back to Crown prosecutors like Law & Order UK? Sadly we have discarded the use of wigs in court.
