Yes!

I got a woman at a competitor to take me out for lunch on 24 hours notice.
Her treat...

Her place or a hotel afterwards?

She has a 6 foot something investment banker as a boyfriend from the Caribbean (for now). Doubt she's interested in me. Plus I'm not crashing her Asia, Caribbean and Scandinavian holidays in the next 6 months.

So most of my friends voted for Trump and only one of them voted for Hillary. So they all got together and are buying a fuck load of Meinkamp copies and mailing to him. The hilarious thing is that he likes to mess around with everybody, but gets mad very quickly when we are making fun of him.

Lets see what happens. One of my friends bought 6 copies lol.

who makes the astute observation: "To be honest, I cannot blame the world for mostly ignoring modern Dutch literature.

The world mostly ignores modern literature

but: Harry Mulisch, Arnon Grunberg, Connie Palmen, Maarten ’t Hart, Margriet de Moor, Leon de Winter, Cees Nooteboom are only a few of the names that make people who read wonder, why such a small country has such an active literature world.

And No - I´m not Dutch - I just read.

^I dunno'....I wonder how the national pysche transposes itself into Dutch literature? Such qualities as stubbornness bordering on belligerence, abusing the famous Dutch directness to hide rudeness and emotional coldness, the lack of any subtlety or ability to read nuances, the awful customer service and the love of rubbing the noses in of people who they deem from poorer countries by drawing attention to how rich the Netherlands is for such a small country and how great it is compared to where they are from.

Then there's the awful proletariat beer that is Heineken.

My hair looks really nice today...almost like my youth. Of course I spent a half hour or more on it.

I hope it holds up until the party tonight.

astronaut.io

Holy shit, this is the best thing on the internet right now. 10-second clips of YouTube videos that people uploaded without naming and that have virtually no views otherwise. Ten thousand forgotten moments; vignettes of normal life. Beats the hell out of anything on Netflix.

what are you doing with your life? go play with the dogs.

I don't know why I thought this was funny, but the radio DJ said today she got a weird text message conversation that went something like this.

"Hey..."

"Hey"

"What are your rates?"

"?? rates?"

"hh"

cue the music...

I think I finally buried the hatchet with one of my lady friends.

..of course in the most dramatic reality TV moments in my life when I happened to be in the same restaurant & bar with my boss and a bunch of people we needed to entertain for work. Fighting over text messages on mobile whilst on two sides of a restaurant and doing my job at the same time was difficult.

Fighting over text is the worst.

Fighting over text is the worst.

Hence why when she was leaving I left my work dinner to pretend to go to the bathroom and just said I'm tired of fighting because I don't even remember what we're fighting about and she said the same. So perhaps I have hit rock bottom on fortune's wheel and it'll slowly turn up now.

But it was challenging doing all the fighting, trying to get a table because someone buggered up the reservations, dealing with people showing up late, and trying to get drinks and standing room for 8 people when the bars were all mobbed 2 people deep. Even better she has a history with some of the people in my work dinner and I had to steer my group away from her.

What's dangerous about 2500 text messages? I'm sure that's only 1/4 of a typical teenager.

I don't think you can build intimacy and an emotional connection through texting. It's fine for organising the logistics of a date or sending a little I love you or I'm thinking of you message, but anything more has to be over the phone or in person.

I'm kind of an introvert by nature and often misunderstood (acccent, cultural difference, subtlety or I dunno), so my inclination is always to start with written message. Still, I try to call, FaceTime or talk in person about anything more than where and when for dinner. Save that funny story or snark for when you are together and it will be better appreciated.

Arguing over text is great if you really really want to feel like you've won. And there is a record of what was said, too. However, you never really resolve the conflict - because you're both to busy taking shots to really hear the other person.

Enough of this drivel. Respond to my text bitch

Is she a teenager?

No. Sometimes her temperament is.

This is the modus operandi with this one woman. I practically only do voice calls with the other one.

I knew speaking in person would disarm her the most because she gets emotional. Keep in mind this is someone I was with in the back of a car and the conversation went on a tangent and she pointed at my mobile with the rest carried out through text messages. It wasn't because the content was something we didn't want to disclose to the driver - just the modus operandi.

FaceTime - I have a Kellyanne Conaway jaw cross with Quasimodo. I'd need a mask.

Anyway I broke the ice so now she's going to make me work for every coffee, breakfast, lunch, dinner and/or more in that sequence.

More to the point is fwiffo a teenager?

Physically I'm not. Are you trying to imply something?

Repaired relations with another lady friend. So I'm just missing the key one now.

Why did relations break down?

This one? Something happened that led her to be in a foul mood. I probably offered to help (I'm a man, let me solve your problems) or was too self absorbed moaning about my own issues or a combination of both. If I knew exactly, I wouldn't work in insurance. I'd be the dalai lama or Tony Robbins or something.

More likely I subconsciously do that one dick thing and invoke a fatal character flaw I carry like the tragic heroes who were cursed in the annals of Greek mythology. I can't help myself from doing it.

I suppose my life is like a hamster running on a wheel. Lots of running and action and then you get tired but at the end of the day, you climb back on the wheel to go nowhere.

What is that one thing?
