What's Making You Happy Today?

Finally nailed my electrolyte intake. Turns out I was severely deficient in potassium.

Isn't it difficult to be severely deficient in K? Don't like the veggies and nuts?
When you follow a keto diet like me, you require more Na and K to stay properly hydrated. I was lacking in potassium, even though I make sure I eat avocados and spinach daily.

I am well aware of the consequences of said Keto diet. I fast fairly regularly so the challenges are similar but nonetheless, Na and K are the easiest minerals to obtain from the diet, especially if you munch on avocado and Popeye's favourite veggies daily. Interesting.

Makes me very proud to be a fellow Lancastrian.

Not only did I buy a house, but the current tenants so far have paid the rent on time AND will voluntarily leave at the end of the month AND it seems I've found craftsmen to do everything by the end of the year AND they say they have all the required materials at hand AND I've got multiple offers from removers for the right time as well. Can't actually believe this will go as smoothly as it seems, but why not be happy for a while!

Enjoy!

Got call from the capo di tutti i capi at work to say thanks for something. Was a nice touch.

The secret to moving house is professional removal services. They'll swoop down, a whole team of them, lift everything and deposit without any hassle. My brother recently moved house and being a clever dick and probably tight too, he did it himself and weeks later, according to my mother, it's still shit tip.

I wholeheartedly agree. Somethings are just not worth the hassle. Get the professionals to do it.

I must be mentally challenged compared to everyone here. I moved myself 3 years ago from one flat to another with the assistance of my old high school mate. And then last year I helped my brother move his family from a one bedroom to a three bedroom across the street.

Moving one singular person, or people moving across the street from a one bedroom place, is a bit different to moving a whole family of 5 persons from a big house to another big house full of stuff.

The professional way is the best, they even give you stickers for what you want binned and for what you want deposited in certain rooms. It's an exact science. Much, much better than the ''Let's hire a van and do it ourselves...'' Like you know what you're doing with a 20+ year office job.

No way I‘ll do it myself, that’s why I got three offers from reputable companies to do it. It’s not really expensive anyway. We‘ll probably do the packing/unpacking ourselves, but that’s about it. I almost killed someone when I thought I could easily bring a massive desk to the current flat with some friends, and let’s not even think about carrying a piano down an endless, narrow staircase.

I like to do my own packing but there is no way I’d do my own moving these days.

I think I read that you need to balance Na and K intake, so if you're taking more Na you'd need to take more K. When I was on Keto it's always the K that I needed, probably due to lowered water retention in the body (excreting more electrolytes) and just high Na intake in general.

If your K intake should be enough but still feel like you need more, try taking some Mg at night, especially after exercising. It supposedly help you absorb or retain K better (I forgot). We now keep a bottle at bedside just in case, and feel like we need it around once a week. There are two common forms of Mg supplement. We're using Magnesium Citrate now, forgot what the other form is but we liked that one better.

I emailed a shop in London about sizing of Solvair and other Doc Martin style GYWed boots and included a typo describing my ‘wife feet’ instead of wide. The owned didn’t miss a beat, responding to my question about the suitability of the higher end boots made in the UK for my old wives feet. 😂

Me and a mate did removals for a while, we called the firm Spassky and Fischer. Our motto was 'We think before we move.'

Alternative, less successful version of the motto: 'We'll take days to move you and end with an indeterminate result.'

I lost track of a pair of JL Lopez and a pair of SM norvegse split toe single monks. Thought they were lost or stolen when I my office gear was moved into storage when I gave up my office at work.

Rooted around the storage area at work where all my stuff was put and found them in a shopping bag tucked into a corner.

Just curious, where do you think they would’ve ended up if you hadn’t retrieved them?

At one point I thought they might have been stolen as they were not with the rest of my shoes but they are not pointy and baby shit brown so it's not like the movers or janitors would actually steal them thinking they were "nice" shoes.

I suppose they would have languished down in the dungeon until I went looking for them. I found the shopping bag amongst old computers and office furniture not near my wardrobes that went down with all the rest of my gear.

Out of all of us (some CxOs, directors), I got by the portfolio and capacity review meeting the best in front of my boss' boss.

Dropped off half a kg of tagliatelle pasta, ragu Bolognese that I spent 3 hours on, Cacio e pepe, 24 month aged proscuitto di Parma, French butter and madrange ham and gruyere cheese for my surrogate daughter to take back to uni.

Also rather happy I figured out the rail is 30 minutes plus Uber versus an hour subway plus Uber.

How can I get my hands on some of that slow cooked ragu bolognese?
